The functional training in school physical education aims to improve the students'sport quality,which is consistent with their demand for sports.It's a multi-muscle group,multi-joint and multi-plane training method that involves acceleration,deceleration and stabilization.This paper adopts a quantitative system evaluation method,the Meta-analysis method.The author retrieves empirical research literature regarding the effect of functional training on the sport quality of Chinese middle school students in the Chinese CNKI database,and summarizes and analyzes all the research results to select thirteen papers that fit the Meta analytical standards.With the National Student Physical Health Standard taken as reference,the paper chooses its prescribed physical fitness test projects as the indexes for the evaluation of four sport qualities,i.e.strength quality,speed quality,endurance quality and flexibility quality and draws quantitative conclusions through the Meta-analysis.Through Meta analysis of experimental literature about the influence of Functional Training on sports qualities of middle school students,this paper explores universal rules on the influence of functional training on sports qualities of middle school students and evaluates effects of functional training on improving sports quality programs of middle school students.Research results:(1)In terms of strength quality,a Meta-analysis shows the intervention effect that functional training has on the Standing Long Jump for Chinese middle school boys and girls.The I~2s are respectively 70%and 92%;Z are respectively 7.37 and 4.60;and both P values are less than 0.01,which is of statistical significance.The 95%confidence intervals are respectively[-12.86,-7.46]and[-8.54,-3.44],and the effect size values d are respectively-10.16 and-5.99,and both are big effects.A Meta-analysis shows the intervention effect that functional training has on the One Minute Sit-ups for Chinese middle school girls.The I~2is83%;Z is 4.75(p<0.001)and the 95%confidence interval is[-8.19,-3.41],and the effect size value d is-5.80,which is big effect.(2)In terms of speed quality,a Meta analysis shows the intervention effect that functional training has on the 50-meter Dash and 50-meter Dash for Chinese middle school boys and girls.The I~2s are respectively 51%and 89%;Z are respectively 4.64 and 2.77;both P values are less than 0.01,which is of statistical significance.The 95%confidence intervals are respectively[0.13,0.33]and[0.08,0.50];the effect size values d are respectively 0.23 and 0.29,and both are medium effects.(3)In terms of endurance quality,a Meta analysis shows the intervention effect that functional training has on the 1000-meter Race for Chinese middle school boys and 800-meter Race for middle school girls.The I~2s are respectively 71%and 0%;Z are respectively 3.28 and 11.54,and both P vales are less than 0.01,which is of statistical significance.The 95%confidence intervals are respectively[2.52,10.00]and[5.08,7.16],and the effect size values are respectively 6.26 and6.12,and both are big effects.(4)In ter ms of flexibility quality,a Meta analysis shows the intervention effect that functional training has on the Sit and Reach for Chinese middle school boys and girls.The I~2s are respectively 96%and 91%;Z are respectively2.43 and 3.16,and both P values are less than 0.05,which is of statistical significance.The 95%confidence intervals are respectively[-2.28,-0.24]and[-1.99,-0.47];the effect size values d are respectively-1.26 and-1.23,and both are big effects.Conclusion:Functional training can significantly improve strength quality,endurance quality and flexibility quality of middle school students in China.It can also improve their speed quality.Functional training included in the screening all show relatively high literature stability on Chinese middle school students'strength quality,speed quality,endurance quality and flexibility quality.This paper demonstrates the intervention effect that functional training has on four different sport qualities with quantitative Meta analytical data,and draws the conclusion that functional training can be used to enhance the strength quality,speed quality,endurance quality and flexibility quality of Chinese middle school students to varying degrees.It provides a theoretical basis for the in-depth analysis of functional training in school physical education and helps PE teachers in applying functional training to PE teaching so that the physical quality of Chinese middle school students will be improved and their all-round development will be achieved.
