South Korea and China signed the "China South Korea teacher exchange and cooperation agreement" in 2011,and launched the cpik(Chinese program in Korea)project,Every year,a certain number of graduate or undergraduate students are sent to Korea as volunteer teachers to participate in Chinese teaching in primary and secondary schools through the selection of Confucius Institute run by Hanban.Korean primary and secondary school Chinese classes adopt the mode of "cooperative teaching",that is,both Chinese and Korean teachers are jointly responsible for the teaching of the same Chinese class. The purpose of this study is to understand the adaptation of Chinese volunteer teachers to this teaching method during their stay in Korea, analyze the causes of the discomfort, and provide reference for the volunteer teachers participating in the project to better carry out teaching work in Korea in the future. This paper consists of four parts. The first part is the introduction, which includes the source and significance of the topic, and summarizes the relevant research. The research object of this paper is 47 Chinese volunteer teachers in Seoul in 2019.The main research methods are questionnaire survey and interview. The second part is the investigation and analysis of the completion of cooperative teaching. The third part is the investigation and analysis of the adaptability of three teachers who stay and three teachers who leave. The fourth part analyzes the objective and subjective reasons of cpik teachers' discomfort in collaborative teaching mode, and puts forward suggestions for improvement.According to the research of this paper,it is found that the volunteer teachers adapt to the cooperative teaching mode well. There are some objective causes of discomfort, such as the difference between the pre job training content and the actual teaching;less communication time between volunteer teachers and partner teachers;the nature of Chinese class is not valued;the distribution and curriculum of the school are unreasonable. The subjective reasons are the low Korean level of volunteer teachers, the barriers of communication with students, and the low level of classroomparticipation;the lack of teaching experience and professional knowledge of volunteer teachers and the inadaptability of cross-cultural communication.Objectively,Hanban and the school should provide more practical and necessary help to the volunteers. The former volunteers should continue to carry forward the spirit of volunteers and provide effective information during the handover process.Subjectively, volunteers should increase their basic Chinese knowledge and teaching ability, strengthen Korean learning,so as to integrate into the work smoothly. Finally, they should overcome psychological obstacles and adapt to their professional transformation from students to teachers.
