At present,higher education has become one of the important factors affecting the rapid development of regional economy.To realize the common development of China's economy and society,and to promote the leap forward development of regional economy,it is necessary to coordinate the relationship between regional economy and higher education.From the perspective of regional economic and educational development level,the Yangtze River Delta has been in a leading position in China.Therefore,based on the perspective of regional research,this paper takes 27 Urban Agglomerations in the Yangtze River Delta as the research object.On the basis of the relevant concept definition and theoretical elaboration,this paper uses qualitative and quantitative methods to deeply study and analyze the impact of higher education on economic growth of 27 Urban Agglomerations in the Yangtze River Delta region,and puts forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions according to the relevant conclusions.This paper details the meaning of economic development and higher education,and determines the research basis of this paper: new growth theory,sustainable development theory and neoclassical growth theory.The research on the mechanism of higher education and economic growth has laid a theoretical foundation for this paper.By using the method of descriptive statistical analysis,this paper analyzes the current situation of higher education and economic growth of 27 Urban Agglomerations in the Yangtze River Delta.In terms of the current situation of Higher Education Development: the education expenditure of the 27 Urban Agglomerations in the Yangtze River Delta has shown a significant increasing trend,reaching 383.5 billion yuan by 2017;the number of students in Colleges and universities is increasing,reaching 3.91 million by 2017;the number of ordinary colleges and universities is steadily increasing,reaching 457 by 2017.Among them,Jiangsu Province has obvious educational advantages.In terms of the current situation of economic growth and development: by the end of 2018,the GDP of the Yangtze River Delta region was 21.15 trillion yuan,accounting for about a quarter of the country;the per capita GDP of 27 cities reached 17361 dollars,which has crossed he middle-income trap.On the basis of theoretical analysis and quantitative analysis,this paper uses panel data empirical analysis method to verify the impact of higher education on economic growth in 27 urban agglomerations.This paper takes the relevant theoretical research basis as the foothold of this study,selects GDP of 27 Urban Agglomerations in Yangtze River Delta as the explanatory variable,selects the number of students in higher education as the explanatory variable,selects fixed assets investment,industrial structure,patent authorization number,proportion of total import and export,government education expenditure and urban dummy variables as control variables,and establishes regression model This paper makes an empirical analysis on the impact of higher education on economic growth in 27 Urban Agglomerations from the perspective of body,province and city.Regional overall research shows that higher education plays an important role in promoting economic development,but it is lower than the variables such as capital and education investment;provincial perspective research shows that higher education in Jiangsu contributes the most to economic growth,followed by Zhejiang,and then Anhui.Among them,the urban dummy variable value shows that whether Jiangsu and Zhejiang are provincial capitals is negatively related to provincial economic growth In the provincial capital cities,higher education in Shanghai and Hangzhou has a significantly higher role in promoting economic growth than Nanjing and Hefei,among which Hefei has a negative impact on economic growth.Finally,according to the research results,this paper gives some suggestions and opinions on policy operation.
