Research Objective:In order to provide empirical evidence for physical exercise to promote mental health of f'left-behind' junior high school students,this paper explores the relationship between physical exercise,coping style,resilience and mental health of'left-behind' junior high school students,constructs and verifies the chain intermediary path of "physical exercise-coping style-resilience-mental health",so as to provide reference for schools and education administrative departments to enable them in strengthening mental health education of these ' left-behind' junior high school students and improve their level of mental health.Research Methods:A survey was conducted among 700 'left-behind' junior middle school students from Zhenning National Boarding Middle School,Anshun City,Guizhou Province using Self compiled demographic questionnaire,Physical Exercise Rating SCAL,Self-description questionnaire SDQ,Simplified Coping Style Scale,and Adolescent Psychological Toughness Scale.The structural equation model was combined with Mplus7.4 software to verify the mediating effect of coping style,resilience and their interactions.Research Results:(1)The physical exercise of the 'left-behind' junior high school students surveyed is generally at a medium level.Boys do more exercise than girls.The amount of physical exercise in junior two is higher than that in junior one and junior three.(2)There is no significant difference in coping style and resilience in terms of gender,family location,whether the only child or not and family type,but there are significant differences in grade.Junior two and junior three are higher than those in junior one.(3)The level of mental health has significant differences in gender,family location,and grade.The mental health of boys is higher than that of girls.The city is higher than that of rural areas,and the junior three is higher than that of junior two.(4)There is a significant positive correlation among physical exercise,coping style,resilience and mental health.(5)Physical exercise can predict the mental health of 'left-behind' junior high school students through the chain intermediary path of coping style and resilience.Research Conclusions:The constructed mediating effect model reveals the mechanism of physical exercise predicting mental health of 'left-behind' junior high school students to some extent.The intermediary effect model reveals the mechanism of physical exercise predicting mental health of left behind junior middle school students to a certain extent.(1)Physical exercise can not only directly predict the mental health of 'left-behind' junior high school students,but also indirectly predicts mental health through the mediating effect of coping style or resilience.(2)Physical exercise can also predict the mental health of'left-behind' junior high school students through the chain intermediary path of coping style and resilience.
