Research On Parents' Participation In School-based Curriculum Development Under The Perspective Of Home-school Cooperation

With the improvement of school governance structure,the improvement of parents' willingness to participate in school education,and the improvement of parents' competence in education,the construction of home-school co-education and co-governance mechanism has been mentioned to an unprecedented height.As the level which attaches importance to the development of off-campus educational resources in the three-level curriculum system,school-based curriculum is the most suitable field for parents to participate in.Based on the perspective of home-school co-education,the paper focuses on the present situation of parents' participation in the development of school-based curriculum in middle school by empirical investigation in Hunan Province and try to make an objective attribution and try to put forward optimization strategy accordingly.As the resource object and one of the subject of school-based curriculum development,the parents' participation in knowledge choice,teaching,and evaluation in the development of school-based curriculum affects the effect of home-school co-education.In the paper,150 middle school teachers and 260 middle school parents in Hunan province were selected as research subjects to conduct a questionnaire survey.Some of them were selected for interviews.One questionnaire survey was carried out on the teachers from four dimensions:institution,resource and technology,theoretical research and practical,curriculum management.The other one questionnaire survey was conducted on parents from six dimensions,namely,cognitive degree,channel of understanding,frequency of participation,level of participation,self-confidence and competence.And then it explores the current situation of middle school parents' participation in the development of school-based curriculum and its constraints.The results show that the current situation of middle school parents participating in the development of school-based curriculum is as follows: The lack of guidance leads to weak coeducation culture;The lack of resources and technology leads to incomplete coeducation mechanism;Teachers' negative attitude leads to their research lag;The lax quality control leads to the low effectiveness of the development of school-based curriculum;Parents' lack of awareness and understanding about the development of school-based curriculum;The frequency of parents' participation is low and the level of participation is not high;Parents lack of confidence and competence about the development of school-based curriculum.Finally,compared with the problem attribution,the following optimization strategies are proposed: We should improve the law on home-school co-education and promote the practice of home-school co-education;We should guide parentsto participate in the development of school-based curriculum by the school charter;We should set up the idea of school-based curriculum development with students',parents' and teacher' s development as the goal;We should rationalize resource allocation and increase material support for rural areas;We should strengthen quality management of school-based curriculum development and optimize environment for parents;We should raise the subject awareness of parents and enhance parental involvement;We should strengthen teachers' curriculum awareness and strengthen teacher skill training in the development of school-based curriculum.
