Vast appeal to teachers of political and ideological education for channeling into fresh teaching approaches to their subject has been extended as stipulated in its National Curriculum Standards(or Standards),in alignment with its reform,on teachers,teaching methodologies,and classroom patterns.Topic-based teaching,familiar as the term might seem for the teachers,hasn't accomplished its generally-favored status in their current subject teaching,let alone its referable paradigms for either theoretical or pragmatic purposes.On the case study for this dissertation,an activity themed with an introduction of “President Xi Jinping's Speech”(or Xi's Speech)into classroom will be applied as a particular type of topic-based teaching that has seen its current progress and is feasible for classroom observation.Issues will be shared between the activity and topic-based teaching on their practical level,arising from whatever confusion and deficiencies over the activity's process.The author has generalized appropriate suggestions and strategies specified for topic-based teaching by dint of bibliographies,online resources and classroom observations in schools for teaching practices so that future references and experience will be available for topic-based teaching to be applied and establish its theoretical foundation.Comprised of 6 chapters,this dissertation will be distributed as follows:Chapter 1: Introduction of the context and significance of topic-based teaching for political and ideological education in senior high schools,and related research home and abroad,as well as research methods and characteristics;Chapter 2: An integration of theoretical materials for topic-based teaching by the author.An analysis into its features and the theories that buttress it will eventually arrive at its application value from theoretical perspectives;Chapter 3: A general review over the introduction of “Xi's Speech” into classroom in Shenyang and a reflection on its achievement as well as future prospect.The author has made a summary on existing problems across four rounds of the activities,which are furthered into possible issues that will generally suit its current application,accompanied by detailed analysis;Chapter 4: A summative account of the activity on its procedures and teaching principles based on Chapter 3 so that those for topic-based teaching will be hereby extracted;Chapter 5: Verbatim analysis of existing problems within the activity that introduces “Xi's Speech” into classroom from the topic-based teaching perspective to regulate five strategies for the teaching approach that targets at senior high school political and ideological education;Chapter 6: A classroom practice for senior high school's political and ideological education based on topic-based teaching,alongside with its conception of classroom design.A reflection is thus made based on classroom feedback to optimize this study from a practical angle.
