The Approach Of Social Work To Intervene In The Home-based Elderly Care In Ethnic Areas

With the arrival of aging society,the problem of providing for the aged is getting more and more attention.Due to its special geographical factors,backward economic development,backward facilities for the aged and so on,the living conditions of the elderly in ethnic areas and the problem of providing for the aged are more serious.In the transition of modern society,the traditional way of providing for the aged in a Miao Township in Xuyong County faces many challenges,such as the backward traditional old-age security system,the insufficient economic and human resources in providing for the aged by families,and the weakening of the binding force of the traditional culture of respecting the aged,then the traditional way of providing for the aged is in urgent need of “transformation and upgrading”.Y organization intervenes in a Miao township to carry out home-based care service with “two lines and three workers”,that is,the service mode of “online supervision platform + offline practice service,social workers,nursing workers and volunteers acting together”.This service model,combined with local ethnic customs and modern care concept,develops home-based care service project and effectively alleviates the shortcomings of traditional home-based care in the Miao Township.Social work institutions explore the practice path of home-based care services in ethnic areas,which not only brings strong support for the local pension cause,but also brings resources assistance from the government and society.The path of social work intervention in home-based care service in ethnic areas should be improved from three levels of micro,meso and macro.We must be aware that social work intervention in ethnic areas to carry out home-based care needs to be in line with the“ history”,and “now”,and promote the“transformation and upgrading” of traditional home-based care in ethnic areas.To carry out home-based care services in ethnic areas,the following points should be achieved:the government should pay attention to the regional and elderly care needs of remote ethnic areas in the integration of the development of the county's elderly care;social work institutions should give full play to their professional advantages in providing services in ethnic areas;social workers should pay attention to ethnic minority characteristics and maintain cultural sensitivity in carrying out services in ethnic areas.
