| There are many types of illustrations and various functions in the junior high school Chinese textbooks,which are very important teaching resources.Illustrations have a visual advantage that cannot be replaced by words.They play a great role in helping students understand the content of the text and promoting ability development.However,in actual teaching,due to teachers’ inadequate understanding of illustrations,lack of methods of using illustrations,and many other reasons,the role of illustrations cannot be fully utilized in actual teaching.In order to improve the teaching effect of illustration,research on illustration was launched.The thesis is mainly divided into four parts:The first part is the introduction,including the reason for selecting the topic,the purpose and significance of the illustration research,the current situation of domestic and foreign illustration research,the research methods and the definition of core concepts.The second part mainly discusses the characteristics of the illustrations in the part-edited junior middle school Chinese textbook.In terms of quantity,the change in the number of illustrations is in line with Piaget’s theory of stages of cognitive development;in terms of types,there are many types of illustrations;in terms of functions,illustrations have diverse functions.The third part uses questionnaires and interviews to understand the current situation of the use of textbook illustrations from the perspectives of teachers and students.The survey results show that there are problems in the use of illustrations,such as inadequate understanding,lack of methods,and inconspicuous effects.Immediately after analyzing the causes of these problems,there are mainly the influence of test-oriented education,the lack of relevant teaching theories,the development of emerging multimedia technologies,and the influence of the factors of the illustrations themselves.The fourth part proposes targeted solutions to the problems arising in the teaching process and the causes of these problems from two aspects: improving the quality of illustrations and improving the effectiveness of illustrations.The strategies to improve the quality of illustrations mainly include increasing editors’ attention to illustration editing,improving the quality of illustration designers,doing post-illustration improvement work,establishing an illustration material library,and forming a dynamic illustration system.The strategies to improve the effectiveness of illustration use mainly include improving teachers and students’ awareness and understanding of illustrations,teachers strengthening the breadth and depth of illustrations,and teachers providing support to teach students how to use illustrations. |
