With the popularization,application,and in-depth development of network technologies in the field of education,online teaching has entered the campus as an auxiliary teaching model.Online teaching breaks the spatial confinement of traditional classroom teaching,offering various advantages such as resource sharing and personalized teaching and providing more convenience for teachers and students.In2019,the outbreak of COVID-19 has seriously affected classroom teaching across the country.Schools have employed online teaching to replace traditional classroom teaching to ensure that the teaching progress is advanced as scheduled.However,numerous significant problems have been exposed in online teaching as well.This study aimed to present the actual working situation of class advisers under the background of online teaching.The author selected three middle schools in H City and distributed questionnaires and conducted face-to-face interviews to 137 class advisers in order to understand the actual situation and existing problems of their practices in online teaching,so as to explore the countermeasures to improve the working competence of class advisers and put forward relevant suggestions and measures.The study was divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction,which describes the research background,research purpose,and research significance,and summarizes studies on class advisers and online teaching at home and abroad.The second part is an overview of the rise and development trend of online teaching and analyzes the opportunities and challenges of online teaching to class advisers.The third part presents the investigation of the working ability of 137 class advisers in three middle schools in H City,which establishes the understanding of the application ability of online platforms,online teaching management ability,online student management ability,online cooperation and communication ability between home and school of class advisers,as well as the impact of online teaching on their working abilities.Based on questionnaire survey analyses,the fourth part spots that there are problems in the online teaching of middle school class advisers such as the limited ability to use the online platforms,the insufficient ability of online teaching management,the imperfect ability of online management of students,and the weak ability of online cooperation and communication between home and school,and provides an in-depth attribution analysis for the problems mentioned above.The fifth part puts forward the countermeasures to improve the working ability of middle school class advisers under the background of online teaching.Based on the analysis of the problems of class advisers in online teaching,this study brought up suggestions and improvement measures to enhance the working ability of class advisers in online teaching from the class advisers themselves,schools,society,and educational administrative departments.
