The 1958 "Shandong Rural History Textbook" is the first rural history textbook published by Shandong Province since the founding of the People’s Republic of China,and is used by junior and senior middle schools and normal schools in Shandong Province.It was compiled under the following background and conditions: First,the accumulation and summary of Shandong native history and the editing experience of native textbooks in modern times.The relevant policies promulgated during the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China directly promoted the progress of local history teaching materials.Second,since the founding of the People’s Republic of China,the academic circles have attached great importance to rural history textbooks,and its policies have provided norms and basis for the compilation of Shandong rural history textbooks.Third,in the 1950 s,the educational and historian circles continued to deepen the theoretical exploration of rural history textbooks.Fourth,the promulgation of the "Chinese History Syllabus(Draft)for Junior Middle Schools" in1956 provided theoretical guidance for its compilation.The 1958 "Shandong Rural History Textbook" has a concise and clear catalog,and a large amount of historical data is used in the textbook,which is conducive to students’ understanding and learning.The part of modern history has inserted some important historical materials of pictures,such as maps of war situation,maps of historical relics,and portraits of people,to complement the content of the text.In addition,a teaching reference book has been compiled to explain and analyze the content of the teaching materials,and provide a large number of teaching methods to help teachers better handle and use the teaching materials.In 1958,the content of the "Shandong Native History Textbook" was concise and clear.The textbook used a lot of historical materials to consolidate students’ understanding and learning.In the modern history section,some important historical materials such as war situation maps,historical relics maps and portraits of people are inserted to complement the content of the text.In addition,teaching reference books have been compiled to explain and analyze the content of teaching materials,and provide a large number of teaching methods to help teachers better master the teaching materials.This local history textbook has clear content clues,diverse narrative methods,emphasizes the combination of history and theory,is good at summing up experience and lessons,and runs through patriotism.It is of great educational significance and laid the foundation for the later compilation of Shandong local history textbooks.However,teaching materials also have problems such as "thinking of the present and thinning of the past",ignoring economic history and cultural history,and the lack of historical materials and single forms of pictures.In the future development and compilation of Shandong’s native history textbook resources,we should learn from its advantages and recognize its shortcomings.Handle the proportions of each historical stage of the textbook flexibly,attach importance to the relationship between politics,economics,and cultural history,and further supplement the design of text auxiliary systems such as text illustrations,introductions,and text notes,in order to compile local history textbooks that conform to the characteristics of the times.
