In the context of curriculum reform,the development of geography curriculum resources has received special attention.The characteristics of authenticity,closeness and novelty of current affairs hotspots are in line with the requirements of scientific,practical and contemporary geography curriculum content,and the application of effective resources from current affairs hotspots to secondary school geography teaching is conducive to enriching curriculum resources and improving geography teaching effect.However,in the practice of secondary school geography teaching,the advantages and functions of the application of current affairs hotspot resources have not been fully exploited.To this end,this paper analyzes the current situation of geography teachers’ application of current affairs hotspots in geography teaching based on the survey of some secondary school teachers in Hunan Province,and proposes suggestions and strategies for the application of current affairs hotspots in geography teaching in view of their shortcomings,designs teaching examples to improve the operability of countermeasures,and gets the following understanding.The analysis of the docking of current affairs hotspot resources with junior and senior high school geography curriculum standards,knowledge points of secondary school geography textbooks,and examination trends of middle and high school examinations shows that the application of current affairs hotspot resources to secondary school geography teaching has obvious characteristics of conforming to curriculum standards,docking teaching knowledge points,and adapting to middle and high school examinations,etc.It is necessary to strengthen and promote its applicability in secondary school geography teaching.Research shows that,when current hotspots are applied to secondary school geography teaching,the processing ability of current hotspots resources needs to be improved;the content of moral education factors in current hotspots needs to be further explored;the degree of integration between current hotspots resources and geography teaching needs to be improved.When teaching,attention should be paid to giving full play to students’ subjective initiative;efforts should be made to develop and utilize current hotspot resources in geography practical teaching.Research shows that the optimal measures of utilizing current affairs hotspot resources need to be streamlined,supplemented and adjusted in material processing to enhance the relevance of current affairs applications;in creating current affairs problem situations and activity situations,students’ subjective initiative should be mobilized,using current affairs to prepare after-class test questions and carry out extra-curricular activities to guide students’ migration applications.The teaching advantages and values of current affairs hotspot resources are fully utilized to provide reference for teachers to improve the teaching quality of applying current affairs hotspot.
