With the in-depth development of the reform of the Chinese curriculum,the teaching of extracurricular reading topics has gradually attracted widespread attention from the society in recent years.In 2018,the national unified use of ministry-compiled textbooks,the new textbooks officially included extracurricular reading into the language teaching system,and extracurricular reading has thus become an important part of language reading teaching.Nowadays,the examination of students by language disciplines also attaches more and more importance to the cultivation of students' reading ability.However,due to various reasons,students have great shortcomings in extracurricular reading,and the author of this article will combine his teaching experience to talk about his thinking on this problem.This paper uses the interview method,questionnaire survey method and other research methods to investigate and analyze the teaching of extracurricular reading in Xinxing Middle School in Xiushan County,Chongqing,combined with the real situation of the school to analyze the reasons,and on this basis,explore effective strategies,in order to make the school's extracurricular reading teaching situation achieve more significant results,and also hope to provide some reference for front-line teaching.This paper consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction.The introduction describes the research origin of the topic,analyzes the research status and significance of the topic,and explains the research object and research methods of this paper.The second chapter is an overview of Chinese extracurricular reading teaching in junior middle school.Firstly,it interprets the meaning of "extracurricular reading teaching" layer by layer,in order to take the exploration of the concept of "extracurricular reading teaching" as the basis of this study;Secondly,it lists the components of Chinese extracurricular reading in junior middle school.Finally,it reveals the practical significance of extracurricular reading teaching.The third chapter is a statistical analysis of the current situation of extracurricular reading teaching in Xinxing middle school in Xiushan County,Chongqing,including students' learning and teachers' teaching.According to the statistical results,find out the problems in the extracurricular reading teaching of the school and the causes of the problems,and analyze them from the two levels of teachers and students.Have a clear understanding of the teaching situation of extracurricular reading in the school,so that the extracurricular reading teaching strategy studied in the paper is more targeted.The fourth chapter puts forward the corresponding strategies according to the causes of the problems in the third chapter,mainly from the two aspects of teachers' teaching and students' learning.The fifth chapter provides a guidance case according to the two components of extracurricular reading in the textbook compiled by the Ministry.The last part is the conclusion,which is a summary of the whole paper,and the suggestions for improving the teaching of extracurricular reading proposed in the whole text can be applied in practical teaching.The appendix section is the content of the questionnaire and the interview.
