With the deepening of the concept of core literacy,it is increasingly important to cultivate the development of students' key character skills. As a classroom management model that emphasizes the main role of students and aims to improve the autonomy and conscientiousness of all students, classroom self-management not only meets the needs of students' physical and mental development, but also improves the efficiency of classroom teachers in classroom management, and is an alternative strategy for after-school service management in the current context of "double reduction".In the process of classroom self-management,upper elementary school students can improve their own management skills and develop their own initiative and self-awareness to achieve the development of key character skills. In this study, three upper elementary schools in X province were selected as the respondents, and the current situation of classroom management of upper elementary school students was investigated in four dimensions: autonomous construction of classroom organization, autonomous management of classroom activities, autonomous management of classroom environment, and autonomous management of classroom discipline, respectively, using questionnaire and interview methods.Through analysis and collation,we learned the problems of autonomous class management of upper elementary school students and the reasons behind the problems, and made suggestions for improvement in response to the reasons.Using SPSS23.0 software to statistically analyze the questionnaires and combining some of the interviews,we concluded that the problems of students in classroom self-management mainly include: weak awareness of participation and lack of initiative;unclear responsibilities and irregular ways and means in the management process;limited opportunities for self-management of the class and weak voice;obvious dominance of the class teacher and incomplete autonomy. In response to the identified problems,we communicated with class teachers and some student representatives, and concluded that the main reasons for students' unsatisfactory participation in autonomous class management are: a cold atmosphere of autonomous class management;students' limited ability and lack of confidence in autonomous class management;single management style of class teachers and lack of intrinsic recognition of students' autonomous management;and unsound class management system and lack of systematic guidelines and norms.According to the problems and causes, specific suggestions for improvement are proposed. They mainly include:creating a good class management atmosphere to stimulate students' willingness to manage themselves;building an activity platform to promote students' class management ability;changing management concepts and improving management skills of classroom teachers;creating more management positions, selecting an excellent classroom team and cultivating core classroom management power;and improving the classroom management system to provide students with guidelines and basis.
