When the author conducted accompanying interpreting in Jingyuetan National Forest Park in Changchun,some problems occurred.Due to the literary description of the commentary,there were a large number of four-character expressions,which became the key of the author’s research.Based on domestication and foreignization strategies,this report studies the interpreting strategies of four-character structures in tourist attractions from the perspectives of domestication and foreignization,taking Jingyuetan escort interpreting as the material.The four-character structures analyzed in this report can be divided into three categories: four-character structures with allusions,four-character structures with rhetorical devices and four-character structures in ancient style.Through the analysis of examples,the author combined domestication and foreignization strategies,and also used analogy,adding annotation and other strategies to solve the problems in the process of four-character structures interpreting.When dealing with four-character structures with allusions,the author chose to retain the meaning of allusions to attract client’s interest.At the same time,the author adopted the strategy of amplification and so on,so that the client could better understand and enjoy the interpreting works.When dealing with four-character structures with rhetorical devices,the author retained the original cultural connotation of China and explained to the client when necessary.Meantime,in some examples,the author omitted explaining specific metaphorical meanings and exaggerations,and instead expressed general meanings that were easier for the client to understand.When dealing with the four-character structures in ancient styles,the author adopted the method of analogical translation to break the cultural barrier.At the same time,in order to promote the communication and integration of different cultures and languages,the author also used the means of foreignization to enable the client to better understand Chinese culture.
