Broad and grand,sophisticated and profound,Chinese culture is well-established and the cultural relics are numerous to enumerate.So archaeological work in China shoulders heavy responsibilities.It is imperative to enhance a more in-depth understanding of archaeology computerized research abroad and accelerate the application process of artificial intelligence technology in archaeology.The source text “Computerization of Archaeology: Survey on AI Techniques” introduces the application of computerization of archaeology abroad,which has guiding significance for the research of computerization of archaeology in China.According to language function,Newmark divides different types of text into expressive texts,informative texts and vocative texts.The translation material of this practice belongs to informative text.In the process of translating informative texts,translator should fully present the authenticity and accuracy of the source text information in the target language.In view of different types of texts,semantic translation and communicative translation are proposed by Newmark.In translation practice,semantic translation and communicative translation often complement each other.By analyzing the representative cases,the following translation strategies and skills are explored: At the lexical level,communicative translation and semantic translation strategies are combined.The method of literal translation is adopted to ensure the accuracy and professionalism of the terminologies,as well as the skills of addition,omission and conversion to enhance the readability of the translations.At the syntactic level,communicative translation strategy is predominant,adopting division and restructuring skills to accurately communicate the information in the source text and ensure the translation conforms to the expression habits of the target language;At the textual level,communicative translation strategy is the prevailing approach,and the skills of coherence and cohesion are chosen to make the translation smooth and logically coherent.Through this translation practice,the translator deepens the understanding of Newmark’s text type theory,which lays a solid foundation for future translation work.It is also hoped that this practice can help the target readers develop in-depth knowledge of the computerization of archaeology and promote further international exchanges on the computerization of archaeology.
