The translated texts selected for this translation practice are chapter 1 to chapter 7of The Global State of Early Childhood Care and Education,with health and development of children as the theme,which was published by the United Nations Educational,Scientific and Cultural Organization.From different perspectives,the book provides a detailed discussion of the development of children’s care and education.It focuses on problems faced by children’s growth around the world and proposes solutions to promote the physical and mental health development of children worldwide.This book has obvious features in terms of language and expression.Based on Peter Newmark’s text typology and combined with the specific content of this book,the translation practice report classifies chapters one to seven into the categories of informative text.During the translation process,the author of the report needs to consider language differences and expression habits between Chinese and English and ensure that the translation accurately conveys the information and meets the reading needs and experience of Chinese readers.Therefore,in the process of translation,the author of this report relied on the features of the informative text and employs two approaches proposed by Newmark.The translator pays more attention to achieving accuracy,readability,and fluency in the translation and completes the translation practice with the help of different translation skills,such as splitting and addition.This translation report not only explored the practical application of Newmark’s text typology but also called for and attracted more Chinese readers to pay attention to the development of children all over the world.
