This translation practice report is based on the translation and analysis of the contents in the fourth and fifth sections of Chapter IV of Dian black tea Drinking and Appreciation.The fourth chapter mainly introduces the drinking and tasting of black tea.The fourth section is about “the selection and storage of black tea”,and the fifth section is about “Dian black tea processing technology and appreciation”.The English translation of this part will help to tell the story of black tea in Yunnan,China,and contribute to the spread of Chinese traditional tea culture.The source text selected for this translation belongs to popular science information text.First,in terms of content,it contains a large number of tea terms and culture loaded words;Secondly,in terms of style,while keeping the scientific text rigorous and objective,the source text incorporates some literary descriptions.Therefore,in order to spread the Chinese tea culture,the translation should not only be easy to understand,readable,but also easy to accept.In order to achieve this specific communicative purpose,the author chooses functional skopos theory and flexibly adopts translation strategies and methods according to its three principles of skopos principle,coherence principle and faithfulness principle to solve the problems in translation and explore the significance and feasibility of skopos theory in English translation of Chinese tea culture related texts.This translation practice report consists of four parts: The first part mainly introduces the translation project,including its background,purpose,significance and organizational structure;In the second part,the author mainly introduces the translation process in the order of pre translation,while translation and post translation;The third part is from the perspective of words,sentences and texts,combined with specific cases,to analyze how translators choose translation methods under the guidance of the three principles of skopos theory to achieve the desired purpose;The fourth part summarizes the translation experience accumulated in this translation practice,including the harvest of this translation project,reflection on its own limitations and suggestions for future translation work...
