The research on Community Governance is an important part of the research on the grass-roots governance system. The research on the participation of Transitional Community Residents in community governance as the main body of governance can further provide ideas to improve the grass-roots governance system.Transitional communities came into being in the process of rapid urbanization. The urbanization rate in China was 36.22% in2001 and 49.68% in 2010.By the seventh national census in 2020,the urbanization rate had reached 63.89%.Rapid urbanization has made a large number of villages that were originally located in the suburbs of the city gradually surrounded by the expanded city and become "villages in the city".At the beginning of this century, the southern coastal cities have gradually transformed the "villages in the city",transforming the villages into communities and resettling the villagers as residents. As a large city in Northwest China,Xi’an has produced a large number of transitional communities resulting from the resettlement and transformation of "villages in the city" in the process of promoting urbanization in recent years.Although there is little difference with mature urban communities in terms of various hardware facilities, transitional communities have their own typical characteristics in terms of community nature and governance mode.Especially after the villagers become residents, their original living environment and interpersonal environment change, and the social capital of residents in the community, including trust relations, social networks, social norms and other dimensions,is impaired. In order to comprehensively improve the ability and level of grass-roots governance, residents,as the main body of governance, must participate in community governance. How social capital affects residents’ participation in Transitional Community Governance and what impact it has on Residents’ participation in Transitional Community Governance are the main issues and contents of this study.Using the methods of literature research, questionnaire survey, case interview and field observation, this paper combs the current situation of community governance in the transitional community through the case analysis of community D,a transitional community located in Xi’an,grasps the characteristics of the Transitional Community, collects the changes of social capital of the residents of the transitional community, and introduces the analytical framework of endogenous driving force to promote structural goals,Comparing the social capital impairment of community residents during the village period and after moving into the Transitional Community, this paper demonstrates the correlation between social capital and residents’ participation in community governance with the results of empirical analysis, and with case interview data, comprehensively discusses the weakening effect of social capital impairment on Residents’ participation in community governance, and extends the analysis of the impact of social capital impairment on different types of residents’ participation behavior, based on which,Put forward suggestions on how residents can effectively participate in Transitional Community Governance. The research shows that residents’ social capital is an important factor in their participation in community governance. After the transformation from urban village field to community field, the "acquaintance society" gradually disintegrates, and the loss of residents’ social capital is obvious, such as the reduction of trust, the weakening of normative binding force, and the weakening of interpersonal network connections.According to the empirical analysis carried out in the study,it can be concluded that the impairment of social capital leads to the weakening of residents’ participation in community governance.According to the current community status, the integration degree between residents and between residents and communities in transitional communities is at a low level, which is due to the derivative results of rapid urbanization. The ultimate goal of transitional community development is urban community, but there is still a long development process from the mature urban community where residents can effectively participate in community governance. Finally, this paper proposes the direction of accumulating and expanding residents’ social capital based on the theory of Communitarianism, which is to build a new "acquaintance society" by creating common emotions, condense community common beliefs, build a unique community culture, and use community organizations to build interpersonal networks in the community.
