According to data from the State Council in 2022,the scale of China’s digital economy industry in 2021 has exceeded 40 trillion yuan, accounting for nearly 40%of GDP,which is a remarkable achievement. The rapid development of the digital economy has brought about major changes in the relationship between global social productivity, information sharing has become more efficient, communication efficiency has increased rapidly, transaction costs have been significantly reduced, and new economies and new formats have continued to burst out, which not only changed the original occupational form, but also added many new occupational types. However,at a time when "male equality" is the basic national policy, the changes brought about by the digital economy to the labor market are not only based on the expansion of the scope of jobs it provides and the adjustment of employment forms, but also need to use the digital economy to improve the employment equity of the entire society, especially vulnerable groups such as women, and a key issue is how the development of the digital economy affects the employment of women in the entire society and the gender wage gap of workers. On this basis, this study first expounds the relevant theories of digital economy, and comprehensively analyzes the conceptual framework of digital economy with the help of existing literature. Then, combined with the development characteristics and employment characteristics of China’s digital economy, the impact of digital economy on the gender wage gap of workers is analyzed. In the empirical part, the study uses the 4-year cross-sectional data and mixed cross-sectional data of the China Household Longitudinal Survey(CFPS)from 2014 to 2020 to create a provincial index of the development level of digital economy through the entropy weight method, uses the regression model to study the impact of the digital economy on female employment and the gender wage gap of workers, confirms the reliability of the results through robustness and endogenous analysis, and uses Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition,(?)opo nonparametric decomposition and mechanism analysis.Explore the conduction pathways of these influences.Empirical research results show that: First,China’s digital economy has developed rapidly, but the geographical differences are significant, and this difference has a trend of gradual expansion.Second, the development of the digital economy has helped to increase the employment rate of women, and this level of employment promotion is stronger than that of men.Third,in terms of impact mechanism, the digital economy increases the wages of female workers and reduces the gender wage gap by reducing discrimination and increasing women’s personal human and social capital. In view of the above analysis, the study puts forward the following policy recommendations: First, further promote the development of the digital economy and narrow the digital divide between regions.Second, the government and the private sector should take a multi-pronged approach to eliminate gender discrimination in employment.Establish a long-term mechanism to enhance the personal human capital of female workers.4.Build a social network platform for employment to increase the personal social capital of female workers.
