Prison is an executive organ of criminal punishment that is highly punitive.With the advancement of the law-based governance,improvement of people’s life security and wellbeing index,and severe crackdown on social crimes,the number of criminals put into jail has been hovering at a high level.Affected by a special historical background,prisons in H Province are faced with a severe age gap among on-the-job police.The recent one decade has witnessed a serious tide of retirement.So a large number of young police were newly recruited,who have grown into the backbone force of prisons in H Province to take charge of a tremendous grassroots workload.Moreover,the number of criminals put into jail has been rising in recent years.The repeated outbreak of COVID-19 has led to soaring up of work stress of the prison police,particularly young prison police.How to address the increasingly prominent issue of job burnout has been critically important.In this paper,X Prison in Province H is taken as a research object to analyze the problem and causes of job burnout among young prison police.Suggestions for improvement of the Problem are made.To start with,six excellent police representatives holding different posts and of different ages are sampled for an interview.The interview results are summarized,and combined with the MBI-GS scale and characteristics of prison-related professions to design the job burnout questionnaire for young police from X Prison.The questionnaire is delivered to respondents and collected after completion.Second,results of the job burnout questionnaire are statistically analyzed at the dimension of emotional exhaustion,dehumanization,and low sense of personal accomplishment,respectively.After that,SPSS,a data analysis tool,is used to analyze differences of age,cultural degree,professional title level and organization,and to examine the status of young prison police under different conditions.At last,causes behind these problems are examined,and suggestions are put forward from the perspective of individual,organizational social level of job burnout.Specifically,individuals should focus on improving their personal abilities and psychological adjustment.At the organizational level,the person-post matching,optimization of the work environment,scientific assessment,training and recruitment of personnel,and payment and social status for the prison police should all be improved.At the social level,countermeasures and suggestions for improvement of relevant legislation and improvement of social cognition are brought forth.Research conclusions of this paper can provide references for reduction of the job burnout among young police from X Prison,H Province,improvement of the quality of prison work,and guarantee of the prison security and stability.It is also hoped that these research findings can accelerate X Prison’s modernization.
