As a developing country,China is at a critical stage of developing from a middle-income country to a high-income country.According to the seventh census,China’s regions are ranked from high to low according to the proportion of population:eastern region, western region, central region and northeast region.Compared with 2010,it can be found that the population is further concentrated in the economically developed eastern region. The floating population was 375.82 million,an increase of69.7%,of which the proportion of inter-provincial floating population is 33.2%,and the proportion of inter-provincial floating population in the total floating population has increased by 0.3 percentage points compared with the data of the sixth census. At present,China is stuck in a trap of ultra-low fertility, and population migration has become a key factor affecting the change of China’s population spatial pattern. At this critical stage, the impact of population migration on economic growth is very important.Firstly, this paper reviews the relevant theories in demography, economics and geography, and expounds the relevant research at home and abroad. Then, this paper makes a descriptive analysis of China’s population migration and economic growth from different levels and angles.Through the comparative analysis of RCV curve and VWP curve with the permanent population of each provincial unit as the weight,it is found that population migration can narrow the gap of China’s internal economic growth by changing the spatial distribution of population size. Finally, with the help of the spatial Dubin model based on the inverse distance spatial weight matrix, this paper makes an empirical study on the impact of population migration on economic growth, including the spatial correlation test by calculating the Moran index of the net population migration rate, according to the Lagrange multiplier test and robust Lagrange multiplier test, the spatial Dubin model is selected, and the empirical results are obtained by using stata16 software. The empirical results show that population migration can promote economic growth on the whole.Population migration in a province can not only promote the economic growth of the province(municipality directly under the central government),but also promote the economic growth of surrounding provinces through spatial spillover effect.Based on the conclusions, this paper puts forward the following policy suggestions:1.Formulate appropriate talent introduction policies to improve the quality of migrant population;2.Optimize the allocation of public goods and reasonably guide population migration;3.Promote the transformation and upgrading of industrial structure in Northeast China and allocate financial expenditure reasonably;4.Improve the educational level of the whole people and Cultivate all kinds of talent.
