China has always attached great importance to the ability cultivation of all kinds of subjects since the formulation and revision of the curriculum standards.History is not only one of the first batch subjects to revise the curriculum standards,but also one of the three courses for universal use compiled by the Ministry of Education.The curriculum standards have elaborated the standard students should reach after completing the senior high school history courses.Cultivation of the core literacy proposed in the curriculum standards is under discussion.It has become a hot topic in the academic circle.As one of five core literacy,the space-time concept literacy is studied in this thesis.It is of great significance for the cultivation of students’ historical thinking and historical concept.To meet the clear training objectives,the cultivation of the space-time concept is heavily researched in recent years.This thesis focuses on the history of capital change in China to study the cultivation of space-time concept in senior high school history classes.The remarkable feature of the newly compiled textbooks for universal use is the time sequence.After teasing out the history of capital change in China in the textbook,it is found that the content conforms to the compilation characteristics of the textbooks in new edition.Many pictures are used in the textbook to show the capital.It can be summarized that the situation map shows the spatial location,the urban map shows the spatial structure and the schematic diagram shows the spatial distribution of the city.The history of capital change in China can be used to cultivate the space-time concept in teaching.The instructional design is completed combined with the real lesson.Some teachers who have been trained and have taught with the new textbooks are interviewed based on the instructional design.Taking the front-line teachers’ understanding of the space-time concept and approaches commonly used in daily teaching as trigger of the interview to know teachers’ views on the use of capital change in China to cultivate students’ space-time concept and what aspects should be valued in teaching.According to the interviews,teachers think it is feasible to take advantage of the history of capital change in China to cultivate the space-time concept in the senior high school history classes and it can get good results.Related to teaching experience in the front line,teachers also make corresponding suggestions to apply the history of capital change in China to the teaching in the future.This thesis aims to investigate the strategies of cultivating the space-time concept combined with teachers’ suggestions,four levels of space-time concept in curriculum standards and features of the history of capital change in China.It is hoped that the plan can be fully implemented in the future which utilizes the history of capital change in China to improve students’ space-time concept.
