The emergence of maker education has had a huge impact on the education sector,as it is an important way to cultivate innovative talents and promote social progress. The fusion of maker education and information technology has opened up a whole new space for maker education and has changed the way teachers teach and students learn, while at the same time placing greater demands on the teaching of information technology courses. The teaching model is guided by the concept of maker education and is implemented in a specific subject. It focuses on the cultivation of students’ comprehensive abilities, especially their creative abilities, rather than just the learning of various subjects, and takes the cultivation of learners’ creative thinking, innovative abilities and hands-on skills as its basic goal.It combines individual creative thinking, subject knowledge and reallife ’creative’ projects to guide teachers’ teaching and students’ learning. It also emphasises the creative ’learning by doing’ process,in which students work with their hands to produce innovative work in a makerspace. In the "maker" project-based teaching model, activities and processes are established and taught in a way that is consistent with the content of the IT curriculum. The study explores how maker-based teaching can enhance students’ creative abilities and how it can be used to make classroom teaching more effective. This study is guided by the theory of "learning by doing",from the perspective of "creators",combined with the content orientation of stop-motion animation, students’ learning characteristics and level of understanding, based on creator education, with the goal of promoting creative thinking and innovative ability. This paper adopts a quasiexperimental research method and a quasi-experimental study method. This paper mainly adopts the quasi-experimental research method and observation method, and selects students in the second year of junior high school S in Nanning as the research subjects to implement the quasi-experimental research. The content of stop-motion animation was used as a carrier to illustrate the advantages of creator-based teaching in the middle school IT curriculum.Students in the experimental and control classes were tested on their innovative and creative abilities related to the teaching of stop-motion animation before the teaching experiment began to ensure that all indicators in both classes met the requirements of the experiment before the teaching experiment. The flowchart of creative teaching was then designed according to the teaching content, and the teaching experiment was carried out with the project "War of Denial" as an example of teaching design based on the creative teaching model.Students’ participation in the classroom is observed and recorded during the experiment. At the end of the experiment, students are tested on their creative and innovative skills and their work is evaluated and analysed in multiple ways. The students’ participation in the classroom, their final productions and the analysis of the Creative Ability Scale were used to determine whether the students’ creative awareness, creative thinking and creative skills had been effectively enhanced after the stop-motion animation teaching. The results of the experimental study showed that the creative teaching method had a positive impact on the development of students’ hands-on skills, collaborative learning skills and the creative and innovative skills that are cultivated in stop-motion animation, and most of the students in the experimental class had improved their creative awareness, creative thinking and creative skills after applying the creative teaching method. However,as the stop-motion animation course requires students to master certain software technology and integrate knowledge from various disciplines, not every student has the same ability to master technology and integrate knowledge from various disciplines,so not every student can produce unique and innovative works, and students’ innovative and creative abilities also reflect individual differences.Based on the analysis of the results of the experimental study, this study also provides teachers with specific recommendations for the development of creative teaching and ways to optimise the application of the creative teaching model.
