Ancient Chinese verses and proses embody the perfection of the traditional culture of the Chinese nation.Studying ancient verses and proses helps young people enhance their cultural confidence and national pride.The study of ancient Chinese verses and proses occupies a very important part in high school Chinese teaching.This paper selects the same text writing in classical Chinese in the unified edition textbook that are already in use from 2019 and the textbook of the People’s Education Press(PEP)edition for a comparative study,and summarises the similarities and differences between the two editions in order to provide background information for Chinese teachers who have only recently started using the new textbook,and also hope to provide suggestions for further revision and improvement of the textbook.The study consists of six parts.The introduction explaining the context and meaning of the study,presents the design of the study and the total number of relevant existing studies,and specifically identifies the object of the study as the same text in a total of five books of compulsory and optional compulsory in the unified textbook and five books of compulsory and four books of optional in the PEP one.Chapter 1 compares the similarities and differences between the two textbook versions in terms of the curriculum and learning objectives of senior high school curriculum and the standards of the senior high school Chinese language curriculum on which the two textbook versions are based.Chapter 2 analyses the organisational system of the two versions of the textbook and compares the characteristics of the organisation of units and the distribution of the same texts.Chapter 3 analyses the differences and reasons for the selection of ancient verses and proses in the two versions of the textbook in terms of word choice,addition and deletion of content,differences in segmentation and choice of punctuation.Chapter 4 takes a single text as the starting point,and compares the differences in the introductory system of the same text in the Unified Edition and the PEP one,mainly in the three aspects of annotation,illustration and study hints.This chapter also discusses the differences in the annotations.Chapter 5 summarizes the results of the previous comparison and concludes that the unified textbook presents a certain degree of inheritance from the Chinese Education version,but is written in a more standardized way and is more adapted to the requirements of establishing moral education in the new era;at the same time,three suggestions are made for front-line teachers to use the new textbook rationally.The study concludes that the system of arrangement and presentation style of ancient poetry and articles in the the unified edition textbook is superior to that of the PEP one,and is discussed in the concluding remarks.
