In 2017,the "New Generation of Artificial Intelligence Development Plan" made a plan for basic education in China to "set up artificial intelligence-related courses in primary and secondary schools and gradually promote programming education".As a typical application of AI in education, robot education in primary and secondary schools has shown important educational value and development prospects, especially for the cultivation of students’ practical and innovative abilities. However, the development of robot education in elementary school is still immature, and the design of robot education lacks guidance and leadership, and there are problems such as focusing on subject-oriented but not curriculum integration, focusing on basic knowledge learning but not innovation application, focusing on competition but not ability cultivation. In order to further improve the problems in robot education and cultivate students’ innovation ability, this study will take robotics project-based learning as a grip to carry out research on the design of robotics project-based learning activities in elementary school, explore the appropriate teaching design model for robot education in elementary school, and provide reference for front-line teachers to carry out robotics learning activities. This study uses literature research, action research, questionnaire survey, and classroom observation methods to conduct research on the design of robot project-based learning activities.in elementary schools.First, the literature research method was used to sort through the relevant literature on robot education at home and abroad,to understand the current research status of robot education,to identify the relevant concepts and theoretical foundations of robot education, and to lay the foundation for the subsequent research.Secondly, based on the relevant theories of robotics teaching, the principles of designing robotics learning activities in elementary school were refined. We analyzed the applicability of the ADDIE model to guide elementary school robotics project-based learning activities, and determined that the ADDIE model was used as the basis to build a design model for elementary school robotics project-based learning activities. The model includes five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation.According to the needs of each stage, the tasks of each stage are clarified, and the teaching objectives, teaching methods, teaching processes, teaching resources, and teaching evaluation of elementary school robotics project-based learning activities are planned. In the teaching practice stage, the elementary school robotics project-based learning activities are designed according to the constructed activity model, and two rounds of teaching action research are conducted to summarize the problems and shortcomings and make improvements and enhancements to promote the progress of the design of elementary school robotics projectbased learning activities. After the teaching practice, data were collected through questionnaires, and analysis of the pre and post survey data revealed positive changes in students’ attitudes toward robotics and creativity tendencies after participating in the ADDIE-based project-based learning activities.According to the classroom observation records, the analysis of students’ learning process materials revealed that as the teaching time progressed, students’ classroom performance and the percentage of completed assignments improved significantly, and students’ hands-on practical skills, problem identification and analysis skills improved. The empirical results show that the project-based learning activity design model of elementary school robotics based on the ADDIE model is practically feasible and effective, and can provide a reference for the design of robotics learning activities at the elementary school level.
