Industrial structure is the meridian and skeleton of the national economy. In order to achieve the targets set in the 14 th Five-Year Plan, the initiative to promote industrial structure upgrading is essential. The first resource supporting development is talent. In the process of economic development, human capital participates in the operation of various departments, and it’s a cross-cutting factor that affects the upgrading of the industrial structure at any given time. The importance of human capital in the process of industrial structure upgrading is becoming increasingly prominent.Studying the intrinsic relationship between human capital and industrial structure upgrading, furthermore, exploring the intermediate mechanisms and spatial effect between the two, there will be of great significance to promote economic development rationally and plan our human resources. In the context of industrial structure transformation and upgrading,This thesis focues on the function of human capital, integrating theory and empirical analysis, exploring the impact of human capital related to the upgrading of China’s industrial structure. In this thesis, theories related to human capital and industrial structure are presented separately, then analyze the relationship between the two and the intermediate influence mechanism. The 30 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China were selected for analysis.Human capital indicators were determined using the entropy value method.Industrial structure upgrading were expressed by the rationalization and advanced.Using the panel regression model, discuss the relationship between human capital and industrial structure upgrading. To understand the intermediate influence mechanism deeply, this thesis constructs a mediation effect model to investigate whether there are any intermediate channels through which human capital influences industrial structure upgrading.Taking into account the correlation between regional development, introducing spatial factors, establishing a spatial econometric model to clarify the spatial effects of human capital on industrial structure upgrading. The findings of this thesis suggest that:(1)Both from a national and subregional perspective,China’s industrial structure are towards upgrading, human capital development also shows an upward trend. From the comparison of horizontal, the eastern region develops better than the other regions.(2)Human capital positively contributes to both the advanced and rationalized industrial structure, human capital count a great deal in the procedure of the upgrading of industrial structure.(3)Introducing three intermediary variables: laborer input structure, consumer demand structure and scientific and technological innovation, both labor input structure and consumer demand structure are found to play a positive mediating effect in the influence of human capital on the advanced and rationalized industrial structure, scientific and technological innovation plays a masking effect on the advanced industrial structure and positively promotes the rationalization of the industrial structure.(4)Considering spatial factors, after determining the correlation between the spatial distribution of human capital and industrial structure upgrading, based on effect decomposition analysis,it’s found that human capital in this region is a threat to the advanced development of industrial structure in neighboring regions, and it has a significant positive contribution to the rationalization of industrial structure. But overall analysis, human capital is a positive influence on industrial structural structure upgrading. Finally,on the basis of the finding of this thesis, and the present stage of trend in development of human capital and industrial structure, give the targeted policy recommendations. |
