The physical and mental health of adolescents is the foundation of their growth and well-being,and the future of the country and the nation is at stake.The Ministry of Education and related departments have successively issued many policies to safeguard the healthy growth of adolescents.The Health Education module is set as a compulsory module in the General High School Physical Education and Health Curriculum Standard(2017 Edition),and the Physical Education and Health curriculum has become the main vehicle for implementing health education in schools,yet it faces many dilemmas in the actual teaching process.This paper provides an in-depth understanding of the current situation and problems in the implementation of the health education module in the physical education and health curriculum in general high schools in Hefei,and proposes countermeasures.This paper uses literature,interview,questionnaire,and mathematical and statistical methods to conduct research.Taking the current situation of the implementation the health education module of physical education and health curriculum in general high schools in Hefei as the research object,1,295 high school students and 59 physical education teachers in eight general high schools in Hefei were surveyed.The teachers’ questionnaire investigated six aspects,including the status of health education teaching,preparation for health education teaching,implementation of health education teaching,teaching effectiveness of health education classes,teachers’ health literacy,and factors affecting the implementation of health education modules.The student questionnaire was conducted in four areas: students’ health knowledge,students’ health attitudes and beliefs,students’ health behavioral performance,and the learning process and learning effects of health education.The following conclusions were drawn:(1)it is difficult to guarantee class time for health education theory classes in general high schools in Hefei;(2)the preparatory work for health education teaching is relatively adequate;(3)the content of health education teaching cannot be better combined with what students need;(4)teaching methods lack relevance;(5)teaching evaluation needs further improvement;(6)health education theory classes are helpful to students’ mastery of health knowledge and(6)Health education theory classes are helpful to students’ mastery of health knowledge and formation of health beliefs,but there are still gaps in the development of behaviors;(7)From the perspective of health behavior development,there are differences between male and female high school students in physical exercise,emotional management,and social adaptability;(8)Physical education teachers’ health literacy needs to be improved.The following suggestions were made:(1)the state should strengthen the top-level design of health education courses;(2)the education administration should strengthen the supervision of health education courses;(3)schools should ensure that health education teaching is carried out;(4)teachers should enrich the content of health education teaching;(5)diversified teaching methods should be used;(6)the evaluation of health education teaching should be improved;(7)health education teaching should be arranged according to gender and grade differences of senior secondary school students;(8)multiple subjects should work together to teach;(8)joint participation of multiple subjects in students’ health education;(9)upgrading the health literacy of physical education teachers;(10)increasing teacher training for physical education teachers.
