Social work is a highly practical profession,and internship in social work is a particularly important part of professional education.The progress and growth of students majoring in social work are inseparable from theoretical guidance and professional practice.Professional practice is conducive to improving students’ professional quality,and the effect of professional practice will have a significant impact on students’ professional identity and career planning after graduation.Currently,colleges and universities that offer social work majors in China have a high rate of brain drain and a low matching rate of professional employment.The reason is that students majoring in social work have a slightly lower sense of professional identity than students majoring in other inherent majorsThis article focuses on the research on the impact of professional internship on the professional identity of the Master of Social Work in L University.Using qualitative research methods,L university graduate student grade two social work as the research object.Using literature methods and case interviews,using social identity theory,interpersonal needs theory,and sociological learning theory,based on existing relevant research,pre and post internship questionnaires,and interview data at various stages of internship,from cognitive identity Analyze the changes in professional identity of social work masters during various stages of internship from three aspects: emotional identity and behavioral identity,and analyze the factors that have a positive and negative impact on professional identity of social work students during the internship process.From the social level,the position setting level of the internship unit,and the work content arrangement level of interns,this paper analyzes the problems and causes of the problems in the internship process of the Master of Social Work.The study found that the industry development environment,feedback from the social level,industry salary and treatment,curriculum and assessment mechanisms,personal positioning and expectations are the main factors that affect the changes in professional identity of social work students.The following suggestions are put forward on how to improve the professional identity of students majoring in social work: improve their professional knowledge literacy;Position the role correctly and position the role correctly;Improving the training mechanism for social work majors;Enrich the practical curriculum for social work majors;Improve treatment and enhance industry identity;Strengthen the publicity of mass media.Based on the current research findings on social work professional identity,social work professional internships,and master’s degree candidates in social work,most of the existing research focuses on issues related to social work professional internship education from the perspective of educators.This study,from the perspective of interns,provides an in-depth understanding of the changes in professional identity of social work interns before,during,and after their internship,and studies how positive and negative factors affect interns’ professional identity during the professional internship process.There are few sample cases in this article and the investigation is not comprehensive enough.
