| "Stabilizing employment" is an important core to ensure the social stability of the authorities, and is the top priority of China’s current "six stability" economic work.Since the outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia at the end of 2019,the registered unemployment rate in cities and towns has continued to rise, and will rise sharply to 5.1% in 2021.At the same time,as China’s economic development enters the new normal, economic growth slows down, and the driving force of economic growth is transformed into innovation driven. In the new normal, clarifying the impact mechanism of technological innovation on employment stability has become an important issue facing China. This thesis studies the effect and mechanism of technological innovation on employment stability.Firstly,it explores the impact mechanism of technological innovation on employment stability, analyzes the intermediary mechanism of industrial structure upgrading in this impact process, and proposes corresponding research hypotheses. Then, the framework of this empirical research is constructed, including the selection of variables, model construction, and data selection. In terms of variable selection, the explained variable is constructed based on the measurement of employment stability based on the length of work experience of migrant workers in the same work unit, the explained variable is constructed based on the measurement of the development level of technological innovation based on the expenditure for research and experimental development of the whole society, and the intermediary variable is constructed based on the ratio of added value of the tertiary industry to the secondary industry. At the same time,a series of regional level control variables are also selected. The control variable data is from the National Bureau of Statistics. In terms of model construction,a linear benchmark model is constructed to test the impact of technological innovation on employment stability, and an intermediary mechanism model is constructed based on a stepwise regression approach to test the intermediary mechanism of industrial structure upgrading in the impact of technological innovation on employment stability. In terms of data selection, employment stability selected the sample data of Chinese migrant workers from 2011-2020,and after data processing,a total of 54320 were included. The empirical research in this article has found the following conclusions.Firstly, technological innovation has a significant promoting effect on the employment stability of the labor market, and this research conclusion is relatively robust under different regression methods before and after the introduction of control variables.Secondly, there is a significant positive mediating mechanism in the impact of technological innovation on employment stability through industrial structure upgrading, specifically manifested in technological innovation promoting employment stability by promoting industrial structure upgrading.Thirdly, there are differences in the impact of technological innovation on employment stability and the intermediary effect of industrial structure upgrading, with the central and western regions having a stronger impact than the eastern regions.Based on the research conclusions, relevant policy recommendations are proposed: First, government policies should clarify the tone and promote the improvement of technological innovation level.Second, improve the level of technological innovation guided by the upgrading of industrial structure.Thirdly, the formulation of policies should be combined with reality and give full play to the role of technological innovation in promoting employment stability. |
