| The latest Science Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(Hereinafter referred to as the "New Curriculum Standards")was released by the Ministry of Education in April 2022 with the aim of focusing on Chinese students and developing core competencies, which put forward suggestions for trying STEAM interdisciplinary teaching in practice. At present, most of the world’s advanced countries have participated in the reform of STEAM education and raised it to the national strategic level. In order to cultivate more innovative talents needed in the new era, cultivate students’ practical ability, creative ability and ability to use multidisciplinary knowledge to solve problems,it is imperative to integrate the STEAM education concept into the science education curriculum of primary and secondary schools in China. The new curriculum standard also proposes to strengthen the advanced chemistry section, based on the cognitive, emotional and social development of students from primary school to junior high school, and make reasonable arrangements for the teaching content of each section,so that the learning goals have continuity and progression.Students in the fifth and sixth grades of primary school are in a relatively contradictory period, beginning to shift from immaturity to self-knowledge,from dependence to self-reliance,and the fifth and sixth grades are a key transitional period that motivates students to continue to love science and explore science. In order to build a bridge between elementary school science and junior high school science,we can promote the effective connection between elementary school science and junior high school science by carrying out project-based activities or teaching methods that solve practical problems.Using literature analysis, questionnaire survey and action research, this study combines the relevant theoretical foundations, the research status of STEAM education and project-based learning at home and abroad, and the characteristics of the new curriculum standard and STEAM education philosophy and project-based activities, and puts forward four principles of science project-based activity design for upper primary schools under the STEAM concept, including the principle of curriculum standard, student subjectivity, cognitive suitability and visibility. When designing the framework,we drew on the fish-style management model and integrated the STEAM education concept, and carried out project-based activities from five stages: goal, planning, execution, verification, and system.Applying this process, the development and design of project-style activities suitable for making ecological bottles, making thermos cups and building a boat to ride the wind and waves are developed and implemented.Among them, building a small boat riding the wind and waves is a unit integration project, combined with the age characteristics and cognitive level of students in the upper primary school stage, from the course standard and teaching materials, integrated into three activities: one is to understand the past and present life of the ship, the second is to ride the wind and waves, and the third is to become a little engineer.Provide students with the necessary learning support through the development of a project tool, the Project Activity Guide,a supportive learning tool. Finally, using SPSS statistical analysis software, the satisfaction and performance evaluation of students’ project-based activities were summarized, and the experience of project-based activities in the upper primary school was summarized.Teachers’ ability to create teaching materials has been improved. |
