| The junior high school stage is an important period for students’ academic development,and it is also a critical period for the formation of values and study habits.The core element to measure students’ academic achievement is their learning investment,so the level of learning investment of junior students has attracted much attention in recent years.Grasping the relationship between achievement motivation and learning engagement of junior students is the basis and premise for us to understand students’ learning status and do a good job in school education.This research puts the time management disposition and self-control into the path of achievement motivation on learning engagement,and examines whether the junior students’ motivation will have an impact on learning engagement through time management disposition and self-control,it provides a certain empirical basis for educators to carry out their work further.Using the method of questionnaire survey,using the Achievement Motivation Scale,Adolescent Time Management Disposition Scale,Self-Control Scale,and Utrecht Work Engagement Scale-Student(UWES-S)as tools,1,460 junior students from two urban middle schools and two rural middle schools in Z city and K City of Henan were selected,and the relevant analysis was conducted.The research conclusions are as follows:(1)Compared with rural junior students,urban junior students have higher achievement motivation,time management disposition,self-control ability and learning engagement level;(2)The achievement motivation,time management disposition,self-control ability and learning engagement level of urban left-behind junior students were significantly higher than those of rural left-behind junior students;(3)The learning engagement level of junior students continues to decline with the growth of grades;(4)There is a significant positive correlation between junior students’ pursuit of success motivation and time management disposition,self-control and learning engagement,and the motivation to avoid failure is significantly negatively related to time management disposition,self-control and learning engagement;(5)The motivation of junior students to pursue success can positively predict learning engagement,and time management disposition and self-control play a partial mediating role in the relationship between them;(6)The time management disposition and self-control of junior students played a complete mediating role between failure avoidance motivation and learning engagement.The educational implications are as follows:(1)Stimulate students’ interest in learning and motivation for achievement through positive feedback and establishing appropriate goals;(2)Carry out a variety of theme activities in classroom teaching to cultivate students’ time management ability and self-management awareness;(3)Use the power of group counseling and role models to improve the self-control of junior high school students,thereby enhancing their level of learning engagement. |
