Problem-solving ability is one of the necessary abilities in the 21 st century.It is the key content of psychology and pedagogy.The objective of comprehensive practical activities is to cultivate students’ awareness and ability of value recognition,responsibility,problem-solving and creative materialization.The activities are of great significance to cultivate students’ problem-solving ability.The comprehensive practical activities are designed in the junior middle school physics textbook(Jiangsu Science Version),which is regarded as a part of the physics teaching and provide a path for cultivating the key ability of physics.Therefore,this study explored how to cultivate students’ problemsolving ability in physics comprehensive practice activities of junior middle school through using a combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis methods.The activities are designed to cultivate students’ problem-solving ability effectively.The main work and conclusions are listed as follows.Firstly,some questions in PISA(Program for International Student Assessment)2003are selected and the self-assessment form of problem-solving ability is designed to investigate the students’ problem-solving ability.The current situation of middle school students’ problem-solving ability is analyzed from five aspects: problem itself,knowledge bases,intellectual skills,individual characteristics and metacognition.Secondly,from the selected survey samples,eleven students with good test performance are interviewed.NVivo is used to cluster and code the results of survey and the grades of students.The causes of formation of students’ problem-solving ability are analyzed from four aspects: family background,educational experience,personal capability and learning quality.Finally,the causes result model of students’ problemsolving ability is built.Thirdly,according to the situation and causes,the training objectives of physics comprehensive practical activities are formulated.Combined with the behavior of six sub abilities of problem-solving,the implementation steps of comprehensive practical activities are deduced and the framework of activities which is carried by combining online with offline is built.Five theory for selecting activity content and six forms of activity are put forward.Fourthly,according to the framework,the students of 8th and 9th in the Middle School at Xuzhou are selected as the research objects.Teaching practice is carried out and two activity cases are given.Finally,the effect of the activity is verified after the implementation of the activity.Practice shows that the design of physics comprehensive practice activities for junior middle school students can cultivate students’ problemsolving ability effectively.
