The 2022 version of the new curriculum standard puts forward higher requirements for junior high school physics teaching.How to cultivate students’ comprehensive practical ability in scientific inquiry and highlight the educational value of "learning by doing" has become a new challenge for physics teachers.With the deepening of the interpretation of the new curriculum standard,we gradually realize that the disciplinary teaching has its disadvantages that cannot be ignored,and the interdisciplinary integrated teaching can more adapt to the requirements of the new era for talents.STEAM education is a new mode of contemporary education that integrates science,technology,engineering,art and mathematics,emphasizing the cultivation of comprehensive practical ability and interdisciplinary thinking.Teaching under the STEAM education concept is usually based on project-based learning,and students acquire the comprehensive ability to solve problems in the process of trying to complete the project.In the teaching of physics,every experiment,every small production and invention is also a kind of project-based learning in essence.Under the guidance of the STEAM educational philosophy,improving junior high school physics teaching is practical and feasible.So,in what form will the STEAM concept be introduced into middle school physics teaching? To solve this problem,the author conducted a student survey at the beginning of the study and found that the complex and abstract characteristics of physics are not compatible with the physiological characteristics of middle school students’ abstract thinking that has not yet formed,leading to some students gradually losing confidence in physics.Therefore,teachers need to take effective measures to stimulate students’ interest in learning physics.Therefore,the author has determined a research plan to introduce the STEAM education concept into the physics interest expansion classroom,and implement teaching in a project-based learning approach in the interest expansion classroom.The teaching strategy is divided into three parts: The first part is based on physics experiments,aiming to address the confusion and difficulties that students have already learned,and to further research and innovate physics experiments;The second part is based on physics mini production,which aims to develop a related mini production project targeting students’ difficult to understand laws or directions of interest.Students learn and train related abilities during the completion process;The third part is based on fun reading.The author rewrote the difficult chapters,using humorous language to guide students and master more effective learning methods.After a semester of teaching practice,the effectiveness of the implementation is evaluated through results display,inter group evaluation,and student feedback survey questionnaires.The test results show that the STEAM based junior high school physics interest expansion classroom teaching has the characteristics of strong operability and high student participation.These three teaching strategies have a significant promoting effect in cultivating students’ interest and improving comprehensive practical abilities.
