As one of the main manifestations of primary school mathematics core literacy,space concept is the basic mathematical ability of primary school students,which plays a very important role in cultivating students’ problem-solving ability and innovative consciousness.From the previous syllabus to the 2001,2011 and now2022 editions of the Mathematics Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education,the role and training requirements of space concept have never been weakened,which shows the importance of space concept to students’ development.The primary school stage is an important period to cultivate students’ space concept.The students’ space concept level will affect their future mathematics learning,especially the sixth grade students in the final stage of primary school.In addition,according to the "Typical Wrong Questions Database" established by Tang Chunyan’s team,it can be found that nearly half of the wrong questions come from the field of "graphics and geometry",and the core quality directly related to this field is space concept,which indicates that students may have some problems in the development of space concept.Therefore,this study explores and predicts the current situation of the sixth grade students’ spatial concept.The survey objects are nearly 500 sixth grade students from key primary schools,complete primary schools and township central schools in X City.Using the test paper made by myself,the survey and analysis were conducted on the status quo of sixth grade students’ spatial concept,and the following conclusions were drawn: among the dimensions of spatial concept,students’ ability in the "geometry of objects" dimension is higher than the other three dimensions;There is no significant gender difference in the performance of each dimension of space concept,but there are significant school differences,as well as significant differences in learning levels.As the development of the sixth grade students’ space concept cannot be separated from the gradual cultivation of the whole primary school stage,according to the above conclusions,combined with the analysis of the wrong causes of the test questions,the following "six focuses" teaching strategies are proposed for the space concept of primary school students: focus on life experience;Pay attention to hands-on operation;Pay attention to audio-visual media;Pay attention to association consciousness;Pay attention to multiple problem solving;Pay attention to comprehensive application.
