Integrated product development (IPD) based on the principle of Concurrent Engineering aims at shortening product development lifecycle and at improving product quality by utilizing many technologies, such as CAx/PDM, Computer, Internet, and so on. The explicit differences between IPD method and traditional method lie in concurrency, integration, intelligence and network in product development. In this dissertation, the IPD methods for helicopter design, process modeling, planning and management of product development in integrated environment have been studied.1 Research on the IPD methodology and its architectureThe necessity to apply IPD method for integrated environment has been analyzed. IPD based on CAx/DFX and integrating sequential process and concurrent process has become the leading way of complex product development. The principle of concurrent and integrated product development has been analyzed, which is a staged and helical evolutive process. Making using of IPD's methodology and considering the structural feature of helicopter, the requirement-driven EPD's model for helicopter design has been put forward, and it integrates requirement model, process model, organization model and product model. Then, the implementing method which applies this model to helicopter design has also been discussed. Subsequently, the process-centered IPD architecture and Enovia VPM/PM-based integrated product development environment for helicopter design have been established.2 Integrated product development process modelingAfter analyzing the current process modeling methods, it has been pointed out that the key of process modeling is to integrate the process, function and information. In integrated environment, the product development process modeling method was presented, which is based on the integration of information model, function model and process model. Then, the procedure of implementing process modeling has been analyzed. Basing on the built process model, an enhanced IDEF3 method has been put forward for implementing process modeling, and at the same time, an application of the process modeling method to the helicopter's fuselage design has been illustrated.3 Process planning and management for IPDFrom the information dependence between product development activities and implementing strategies, the implementing method of product development process planning and management have been presented, which integrates design process model, design structure matrix model and project management tool, and the implementing strategy and algorithm of process planning have also been studied. Then, the product development process planning in dynamicresource constrains and its implementing strategy and related algorithm have been studied.Afterward, the process planning for structure design of helicopter's fuselage has been implemented.The process management method integrating project management and workflow management has been put forward, and the implementing mechanism has been analyzed. Furthermore, its effective has been proved by applying it to helicopter's fuselage design. On the basic of PDM (Product Data Management), the implementing mechanism has been analyzed from the control manner and status graph management perspectives.4 Realization of digital product development environmentThe architecture and function of PDM system have been analyzed, and the implementing method of Enovia VPM/PM-based, process-centered integrated product development has been studied for helicopter design. The organization collaboration, communication and information management have been analyzed. Then, from the ways of security control of data and extended product structure configuration, the information and data management have been analyzed and implemented for helicopter's fuselage design, which are based on Enovia VPM/PM. Finally,information and data sharing and exchange based on STEP have been discussed during product development process.
