Employment is the basis of the people' livelihood. The employment ofcollege and university graduates has become a common topic of the society,and a major concern of the government as well. There are far too manystudents who can't get a job immediately after graduation. This isconsidered a major factor that affects nowadays' social stability andeconomic development. The reasons behind this phenomenon are verycomplex, and from among which this article focuses on those that areclosely related to the teaching of higher education and discusses theeffectiveness of teaching to graduates' employment. Which teaching factorsgenerate greater effects on the employment of the graduates? Why and howis it so? How should colleges and universities reform their teaching so as toenhance the graduates' competitiveness and then reduce the pressure ofemployment? To all the above questions and others, this paper tries to seekan answer.This paper falls into six parts.The first part, the introduction, puts forward the problems andresearching ground and on the basis of the document summary, theresearching routines and the theoretical foundation.The second, a historical retrospect on the teaching and employment,looks back changes and developments of the relation between teaching andemployment in different periods in our country.The next is about the teaching structures and employment. Throughthe substantial analysis of the structures of the majors and academic credentials on employment, it points out that the loss of the structuralbalance between the majors and employment positions is one of the majorfactors on the difficulty of employment and the major reason of theemployment problem of the graduates from colleges for professionaltraining is that the teaching there lacks their own characteristics.Furthermore, this part poses some methods to solve these problems.The fourth part is on the teaching quality and employment. Based onthe analysis of the effects of teaching quality on employment, it furtherdiscusses the effects of such teaching factors as teachers, students andsubjects on the teaching quality and holds that to enhance the teachingquality is the basic outlet to raise the graduates' competitive power.The fifth is on the teaching reputation and employment. This partmainly analyses the accelerating function of the social influences, such asdiplomas, the characters of the running schools and the teachers, onemployment, and then comes to an conclusion that colleges and universitiesshould set up the reputation of employment.The last is on vocational counsel teaching and employment. Itanalyses the vocational counsel impact of teaching over employment, andwith the current situation of the vocational counsel teaching in colleges anduniversities, suggests the innovation and development of the vocationalcounsel teaching.
