Educational drama is a kind of applied drama form that originated in the British and American countries in the early 20 th century.In recent years,it has been gradually starting a craze in primary and secondary schools in our country.This study mainly focuses on the theoretical construction of primary and secondary schools' educational drama,the practice exploration of primary and secondary school teachers,and the curriculum and evaluation criteria for primary and secondary schools' educational drama in the future,as well as the teacher training path.Through the research methods of literature analysis and qualitative research,field investigations were conducted in 5 primary and secondary schools in Beijing's Shijingshan District,Haidian District,and Chaoyang District.We interviewed in depth various front-line teachers who carried out educational drama activities in the above-mentioned primary and secondary schools,and initially demonstrated the current existing state of educational drama in China's elementary and secondary schools.Educational drama in the West generally went through four stages: the former research stage(the ancient Greek period-1911),the theory of start-up stage(1912-1969),the incorporation into educational system stage(1970-2005)and the vigorous development stage(2006-present).During the period,the research hotspots mainly focused on the three major research areas of educational drama concepts,functions,and teaching methods.Educational drama began late in our country,but it has also roughly gone through four stages: the previous research stage(1984-1996),the embryonic stage(1997-2004),the exploratory growth stage(2005-2013)and the booming stage(2014-present).In the four periods so far,the research hotspots have mainly focused on the exploration of the theory of educational drama,the status quo of educational drama in primary and secondary schools in China,and the western educational drama development experience.The concept of educational drama is a professional concept which extended from the concept of drama.Both the western and the Chinese research community show the two major schools of narrow sense and integrated orientation.There is still some controversy in the theoretical circle.This study believes that educational drama refers to the education method in the regular primary and secondary schools,developed by teachers who have accomplishment of drama for in all students,and it is based on subject knowledge and social cognition to cultivate all-round development of individuals.This study proposes that life is drama,classrooms are the stage,teachers and students are actors,and educational drama has a great match with the life of primary and secondary schools.And in the process of practice,educational drama can effectively promote students' cognitive development,social development and aesthetic development.The current practice of primary and secondary school teachers in educational drama research is mainly based on the three education styles of drama teaching method,school-based drama class,and drama society,in which the teachers present three types of roles “interactive executors”,“elf caged in cages”,and "powerless wage earners".Due to the lack of professional educational drama teachers and standardized educational drama programs and evaluation standards,there are still some difficulties in the use of educational drama by primary and secondary school teachers in China.At present,the UK and the United States have all introduced relatively complete educational drama curriculum and evaluation standards for primary and secondary schools at the national level,which can be used for reference and improvement with local experiences in our country.In addition,due to the two major defects of "less number" and "unable to stay" of the educational drama teachers cultivated in drama schools,the focus of educational drama teacher training should have shifted from drama schools to normal schools in the future.Further exploration is made from the establishment of educational drama disciplines,the general opening of educational drama course and the provision of professional training for primary and secondary school teachers.
