A Case Study On The Generation Logic And Evolution Logic Of The Characteristic Disciplines In An Industry-featured University

Currently,the construction of “Double First-class” university has become the focus topic and practical proposition of the government,society,universities and researchers.Based on multiple institutional logic theory,organizational change theory,field theory and other theoretical foundations,this study combines qualitative analysis method with quantitative analysis method to comprehensively conduct literature research,policy interpretation and interview research.This study selects the food science discipline of J university,an industry-featured university,as a case study.In order to thoroughly comb and analyze the historical evolution process of the food discipline in the university over the past 100 years,explore the internal logic of the development of the discipline,reveal its stage features and influencing factors,and summarize the success or failure of its discipline construction,providing reference for the reform and development of industry characteristic universities and the construction of “Double First-class”universities.The research questions mainly include three aspects: firstly,what is the basic track of discipline development of industry-featured universities? What are the unique evolution paths and laws of them? Secondly,what are the factors that influence the development of university disciplines? How does it work in different periods? Thirdly,what are the main reasons for the development of university disciplines? Is it the process of its natural growth or is it mainly due to the planning and design of external forces?The study found that different factors such as government,market,knowledge and organizational culture have interwoven and differentiated influences in the evolution process of the characteristic discipline of food science in J university.Government logic plays an important driving role in the development of discipline.But at different stages,the extent and manner of the government's role are different.After the founding of new China,the exploration of a new model of higher education standardization has become “government logic”.After the reform and opening up,under the guidance of the policy of adhering to connotation development,the state strengthened the reform of all kinds of higher education,and the government logic changed from “political performance” to “ academic performance”.Market logic plays an important driving role in the development of discipline.Opening up has brought about great development of the industry.At the same time,universities have received loans from the world bank,the employment situation of students is getting better,and the funding for scientific research is increasing.Knowledge logic plays an important role in the development of discipline.From the initial studies on fermentation,food engineering and cereals and oils,the food discipline of J university gradually derived the functional and structural functions of food macromolecules,food biotechnology,food quality control technology,fermentation and gene metabolism,functional food development and other disciplines,showing that the food discipline itself formed many research fields according to the division of labor of knowledge production.Organizational cultural logic plays an important role in the development of discipline.The food discipline of J university embodies the spirit,promotes the tenure target responsibility system and the teacher performance evaluation system,creates an atmosphere of energy up and energy down,arouses the enthusiasm of the majority of teachers,and improves the overall level and competitiveness of the food discipline.Based on the exploration of the development process of the food science discipline in J university,this study reflects on the development and discipline construction of industry-featured universities.The existing problems include the imperfect concept of discipline construction,the alienation of discipline and industry from integration,the weak linkage of discipline development,and the obstacles of interdisciplinary development.From historical experience,in order to develop the industry-featured universities in the future,we should pay attention to the following points: First of all,we should seize the policy opportunity and strengthen the construction of characteristic disciplines.Secondly,face the frontier of science and technology in the world and improve the basic theory of the discipline.Thirdly,pay attention to the coordinated development of disciplines and promote interdisciplinary integration.Fourth,deepen collaborative innovation and fully release disciplinary functions.Finally,optimize the discipline organization culture and stimulate the autonomy of discipline development.The possible innovations of this study are as follows: To begin with,it analyzes the development of characteristic disciplines in China's industry-featured universities.Starting from agronomy,the food discipline of J university has gradually gone through the process of discipline consciousness generation,discipline establishment and discipline form independence,and finally,through the establishment of industry-featured universities,the unique development path of J University's food discipline has been formed.The study found that it tests the wisdom and level of university decision makers to choose one or several disciplines as a breakthrough to balance administrative power and academic power.Secondly,it constructs an explanatory model for the development of characteristic disciplines in industry-featured universities.Government logic,market logic,knowledge logic and organizational culture logic have shaped the development of disciplines.It is found that in the Chinese context,the development of university discipline is not entirely "natural growth".It is full of subjective initiative factors such as "seizing opportunities,top-level design,and overall promotion",and its development is inevitable and accidental.Thirdly,it adopts the comprehensive research method of combining archives with oral history.It makes the historical data corroborate each other and make up for the lack of historical data.To some extent,it enhances the credibility and explanatory power of the data.
