Paths To Change In Ordinary High Schools

In the era of changes,how can an ordinary high school diagnose and implant the genes of changes,so that the concept,strategy,technology,organization,system and culture of changes become the core competence of organizations to adapt to the changes in the new environment? What kind of leadership style and reform path can an ordinary high school adopt to maximize the efficiency of its school reform? The research of school change path based on transformational leadership theory is a new subject under this background.Through literature research,questionnaires and expert interviews,this study refines the analytical framework of school changes under transformational leadership and selects F Middle School,which has achieved remarkable results,rich information about the process of changes and strongly supported by the research,to conduct a case study.Through case studies,interviews,observations and critical event methods,from the perspective of transformational leadership such as vision motivation,intelligence motivation,leadership charm,personalized care,technology and culture,this paper analyses the influence of transformational leadership on the path of changes in ordinary high schools,and extracts the path of changes in ordinary high schools.This study takes F Middle School as an example to analyze the change path based on transformational leadership theory.There are different change paths in three different stages of development.In order to change the survival stage,we should focus on the structural elements,optimize the teaching resources and the organization and management resources,solve the problem of excessive management levels caused by the effective use of resources and the rapid expansion of the scale of schools,and achieve breakthroughs.At the stage of development,we should focus on the needs and mechanisms,optimize the curriculum system and the effective teaching mode,create a curriculum map to stimulate students' potential,meet the needs of each student's independent development,and realize the system reform.In the stage of brand-building,we should focus on culture and value,combine school-based characteristic courses with optimizing learning environment,create a culture and core values closely linked with "harmony but difference",and realize the overall change of personnel,structure,task and technology.This study holds that the path of school changes under transformational leadership should include two external factors,one internal cycle and one two core factors.(1)Transformational leadership is at the outermost level.Leadership is closely related to the effectiveness of the school reform.It provides the engine and fuel for the school reform.(2)The conditions and cultural norms for the continuous changes of schools are at the second level,which needs constant attention in every process of the school reform.(3)The four stages of vision,implementation,evaluation and improvement constitute the improvement system of the school reform cycle to improve the efficiency of changes.(4)It is very important to change the core layer of the outer layer(curriculum teaching).It needs to combine different stages of change,shift the focus and continue to optimize.(5)Students are naturally at the core of the school reform.The core beliefs and values of all changes are aimed at promoting the overall and individual development of all students.(6)The results of teacher development and school development,which measure the effectiveness of change,are ultimately the results of student development.The innovation of this study is mainly manifested in the author's full use of his own practical experience and the rich information of the case school reform process,the real-life recovery of the school reform process,based on case studies and the key event method,to analyze the impact of transformational leadership theory on the school reform path,and to extract the transformation path suitable for the contemporary cultural context of our country.One of the enlightenments of this study is: to explore the path of changes in ordinary high schools,we must grasp the intrinsic,gradual and systematic characteristics of the path of changes in schools,explore the inherent logic of changes,deal with the contradictions between point breakthroughs,thinking breakthroughs and overall generation,realize the integration of boundaries,levels and fields,and transform the internal and external,explicit and invisible in the process of change as well as the value of others and ourselves.The second revelation of this study is that different schools have different change paths because of different change genes and internal and external environments.The best change path is the one suitable for their own schools.The same school is at different stages,facing different key contradictions and adopting different change paths.Different change stages require different change strategies.The third enlightenment of this study is that transformational leadership is recognized at home and abroad as a dimension of leadership charm and intellectual stimulation in the context of China.Virtue is a unique dimension of transformational leadership in China.In the context of Confucian culture,more emphasis is placed on exemplary leadership,leading by example and practicing by oneself.But the dimension of individualized care should expand its connotation;vision incentive should grasp the scale;transformational leadership should also be closely integrated with management technology and organizational culture,improve the efficiency of change through system and technology,and provide appropriate soil for school reform through the construction of school organizational culture.Therefore,in the context of China,the application of transformational leadership should respect the reality of the school,treat it differently and adopt it prudently.The change path of an ordinary high school has strong situational nature and timeliness.Various changes in internal and external environments brought about by the change of time will challenge the existing change path of the school.Therefore,to explore the change path of the school,it is necessary for the reformer to have a constant mentality of "being always on the road".
