This is consists of three parts Part one: Summary of the studies on OxytropisThe legume genus Oxytropis with about 300 species distribute in many zones of the world. There are about 130 species in China, among these more than 80 species mainly distributed in the northwest, northeast and southwest part of china, about 40 species in Tibetan region. Most plants of this genus have long been being used as Chinese traditional medicine. Many of this genus plants are native to the northwest of China and have been characterized as one of the most destructive plants to livestock. People have now attached importance to the development of Tibetan plants increasingly, but little is known about them chemical constituents. In this part, I systematically consulted references about this genus from 1955 to 2000 and summarized its research advance in distribution, components and active compositions.Part two: Chemical studies on the components from Oxytropis falcata Bunge. From the whole plant of Oxytropis falcata Bunge., fifteen compounds were isolated using various methods, including silica gel column, preparative TLC and recrystallizing. Structures of 21 compounds were elucidated as alkaloids, flavones and steroids by spectral means (IR, UV, EI/FAB MS, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, DEFT, etc.), elemental analysis, and comparison with the authentic samples. Among them two compounds were new and their structure werededuced as oxytropine A, oxyropine B, 14 compounds were obtained for the firsttime from this plant.Part three:Studies on the volatile constituents of Oxytropis falcata Bunge. The essential ofOxytropis falcata Bunge. from petroleum have been studied by means of theGC-MS-DC. 57 constituents have been identified.
