Based on the computer grid technology, this paper makes use of computer cluster's calculation power and collaborative design to analyze the Column of Numerical Control Milling & Boring Machine tools'finite element model. The result of FEA (Finite Element Analysis) is used as the data of optimization design. The ANSYS/APDL is adopted to implement the parametric program for the column of the machine tool, the optimal design of which is conducted with the program by the Design Opt module. In this way the optimization parameters are obtained in a short period.This paper consists of five contents:Firstly, the research platform is established on the computer grid technology, and ANSYS Linux parallel computing software is set up.Secondly, this paper studies the current research status of machine tools and the application of finite element analysis method, proposed the purpose of this study as well as its significance.Thirdly, after understanding the relationship of every key part under machine running, the relationship of every key part of the machine tools are transferred to the model of FEM , we can obtain more proximate result of FEA.Fourthly, this paper explores the boundary conditions of the machine. On calculating the milling force under working conditions and analyzing the constraints of the machine, the boundary conditions are eventually applied to the finite element model.Lastly, the column of the machine tools had been parameterized with ANSYS/ APDL language, which eventually implemented the structural size optimization.
