On The Economic Promotion And Its Mechanism Of Small Towns In Metropolitan Fringe

With the high-speed development of economy in China, the borderline between central city and the rural area tends to become more and more blur, which accelerate the process of suburbanization and urbanization. Small towns in metropolitan fringe are located in the most active region under the interaction of central city and countryside. The construction of these towns not only plays a conductive rule in socio-economic development of adjacent rural area, but also auxiliarilly propels the socio-economic development of metropolis. Speed up the construction of small towns in metropolitan fringe meets the need of keeping on transferring surplus labor force of rural area, as well as the needs of breaking down dual economic structure and realizing economic integration of urban and rural area. Therefore, the research of growth mechanism of small towns has all-important realistic significance. This paper studies the growth mechanism mostly from the angle of economic dynamics. On the base of theoretical analysis this paper then takes Gaohang Town as the case, which lies in the fringe of Shanghai.The paper consisted of 5 parts as follows:In chapter 1, the significance of this study, some relating conceptions, the summarization of study in this specific field and the research approach of the paper are described.In chapter 2, the author reviews some theories relating to small towns in metropolitan fringe, and pointes to their elicitation to the construction of these towns.The factors affecting the development of small towns in metropolitan fringe are firstly discussed in chapter 3. Then the author puts the stress on discussing the mechanism of economic promotion from the aspects of economic actors, economic policy, the function of market and the impetus of urbanization.Chapter 4 and chapter 5 are the part of case. In chapter 4, on the base of introducing the general situation and the process of development of Gaohang Town, the leading dynamic factors are analyzed. Then the author pointes out some problems in the process of its development and puts forward several suggestions to boost the further healthy construction of Gaohang Town in chapter 5.
