The success of Beijing Olympic Games not only is a chance for China to be better known by the whole world, but also offers a great opportunity of improvement of the Physical Education (PE) in our country. In this new era, people'increasing needs for fitness provide wider space for the development of China's PE industry. Under the circumstance that the nationwide fitness campaign is booming in the "post-Olympic era", fitness clubs, as an important component of the PE industry, is playing a more and more important role to the development of all the fitness clubs in China.As one of the most developed city in China, Shanghai has great advantages for the development of fitness clubs, especially in the "post-Olympic era". Based on the analysis on the change of PE after 2008 Olympic Games, this article applies literature method, questionnaire survey method, and other methods to study the operation and management of the Shanghai Fitness Clubs, trying to find some clues on the trait and pattern of their development.Research result reveals that:1. In the "Post-Olympic Era", to improve people's physique, and to enhance the standard of life quality has become the fundamental tendency of development of PE industry in our country. Meanwhile, the public fitness, nationwide fitness and other models of physical career is developing new traits.2. In the "Post-Olympic Era", the commercial fitness clubs in our country also present a new tendency that the public fitness usually is carried out based on the fundamental benefit of the public.3. The number of people learning the major in relation to the management and operation of fitness clubs in Shanghai is not so large, that 48.9% people learning PE does not directly relate to this major. On the other hand, the trainers in Shanghai commercial fitness clubs usually have high diplomas, but their professional skills and capabilities need to be improved. Shanghai commercial fitness clubs also do not have corresponding training class for those trainers.4.The overall situations of management of Shanghai commercial fitness club are not good in the following aspect:their concept of management and choice of store site most consider the maximum of profit, but tend to neglect the benefit of people; the sources of fund raising are not standard that could not ensure the well-running of the clubs; club members are not satisfied with the professional level, the management program and the service quality of the club trainers; and the business hours are not fairly set up.5.Shanghai commercial fit clubs usually do not have good social cooperation sense, and lack the consciousness of developing with other enterprises in the society, the fitness clubs do not have will to become business partner with other corporations or organizations, the fitness clubs never undertake any social responsible work, which is a high proportion.
