The teaching of proses is an importmant part in the teaching of Chinese reading. New curriculum standard requires teachers to instruct students in prose reading on the basis of three dimensions, but facing the pressure from the college entrance examination and other various examinations, teachers often ignore vivid humanistic consciousness of students and text with more of an emphasis on examination skill training, thus it results in poor efficiency in teaching.How to achieve the remarkable result in prose teaching under the background of the New Curriculum and which teaching method shall be used properly in prose reading? It is very necessary and impendency to probe into the problems mentioned above.This thesis mainly discusses about the teaching method of modern prose reading in senior high school. Its principal part is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter, it refers to investigation and analysis on the current state of prose reading teaching; in the second chapter, it illustrates the task, principle and guiding ideology of reading teaching. The tasks of prose teaching are to acquire knowledge, foster abilities, edify sentiment and irradiate the mind. The principle followed by prose teaching contains the autonomous principle of students in studying and teacher-leading principle for teachers in teaching, purposeful principle of teaching and the principle reflecting the personality of prose text. The guiding ideology of prose teaching shall be based on texts, take question discussion as guidance and presentation as well as regard language activities as the main form. In the third chapter, it intends to explore the teaching method of modern prose reading in senior high school. It mainly refers to the specific methods applied in prose reading teaching of senior high school, including not only the concrete substance in prose teaching activities, i.e. what to be taught, but also the sequence of class activities in prose teaching, i.e. how to teach; these two respects are reflected in the teaching organized by teachers. Besides the principal part, it is supplemented with preface, conclusion and appendix and among them, two examples in teaching methods of different types are included in the part of appendix".Combining a number of examples of current class teaching, the prose teaching methods proposed by this thesis mainly contain recitation skill training method, silent reading skill training method, guided method of abstracting, integral-partial-integral teaching method and cutting-in teching method by grasping a little. During daily teaching, one or several kinds of methods foresaid can be used individually or comprehensively and teachers can choose them flexibly on the base of the practical application.
