The Status Of Employment For Undergraduates In Music Major

The thesis mainly inquires into the employment status and attitudes of undergraduates in music major of the six normal universities directly subordinated by the Education Department, and gives its suggestions.The study used questionnaire survey and convenience sampling. The subjects consisted of undergraduates in music major in 2010 of the six normal universities directly subordinated by the Education Department. Based on the literature review, the researcher compile "The Status of Employment Undergraduates in Music Major" questionnaire to be a research tool. The reliability and discrimination of the questionnaire were analyzed though a pilot study. Two hundred and nine questionnaires were collected,183 valid and validity rate as 88%. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics.The results showed as the following:1. The job whereabouts of undergraduates in music major is more varied. In the work, their basic work ability is most asked for operation and speaking, and the specialized skill is most asked for organized activity, chorus conduction, music appreciation and modernized application.2. Undergraduates in music major who means of gaining job information is simple, the main mean is campus recruitment information.3. Undergraduates in music major are main consideration as wage and personal development opportunity in job-choicing factors.4. Undergraduates in music major are certain satisfied in the work in general, and believe that "hard work" and "problem-solving ability" are more important.5. Different suggestions are made to the future undergraduates in music major about the whereabouts of jobs, the ability to the present job, and the job-gaining means.Suggestions are provided to the university, undergraduates, and the society.
