Recent years, under the circumstances of postgraduates'poor employment situation across China, the employment situation of postgraduates in Gansu is becoming worse year by year. The employment problem of female postgraduates draws our attention especially. In order to get a general picture of the employment problem of female postgraduates in Gansu, the method of comparative analysis is employed and the study is mainly based on the data from the employment questionnaire of Gansu postgraduate students in 2010. It is accomplished by analyzing the individual characteristics, value of starting a job, process of getting a job and result of getting a job of female postgraduates in some universities in Gansu and by referencing male postgraduates. On the basis of grasping the present situation, this study analyses the related factors influencing the employment problem with the help of the questionnaire, and thus some conclusions and suggestions are acquired.As the advanced specialized talents, female postgraduates are important force in the strategic concept of relying on science and education to rejuvenate the nation in China. The employment situation of them not only relates to the development of higher education, but also affects the long term planning of taking full advantage of human resource. And further the advancement of society and the nation's prosperity can be affected more powerfully. With respect to solving the problem of the poor employment situation of female postgraduates, the author thinks that as far as the identity characteristics of female postgraduates is concerned, the correct guide and cultivation of female postgraduate students should be strengthened; their employment right should be preserved in terms of policy and legislation; institutions where female graduates study should aim to improving their competence; female postgraduates themselves should improve their comprehensive competence. With the above measures, female graduates can smoothly get satisfactory jobs.
