With the arrival of the knowledge and economy era, the abuses of traditional education are increasingly obvious. It focuses on the teachers' role as its teaching ideas, ignoring the personal diversities of the students. Exam results and the proportion of the students entering schools of a higher grade are the only targets and this is used as its assess standard. As for the teaching contents, it pays its attention to the teaching of indirect experiences and as a result, what is learned is divorced from practice. The basic teaching steps put forward by Karav are more used, that is, " teaching organization-review-check-transfer to the newlesson-study-consolidation-assignment", while the students can not play their main and creative role in this way.The aim of quality education is to fully tap the potentialities of each student and promote the personal overall development so that the all round improvement of thecitizens can be achieved. Trend of constructivism from the west supply quality education with powerful vigor. Constructivism emphasizes structure of the knowledgeable meaning, and the initiative in studying as well as social and environmental characteristics. Of the teaching styles of Constructivism, Anchored Instruction, Random Access Instruction, and Scaffolding Instruction especially focus on the creation of teaching environment. Research on the creation of teaching environment in geography teaching is beneficial to promote the teaching reform, optimize the teaching process and as well as beneficial to the studying transfer and studying capability. As a result, the function of the main role and subjects infiltration can be achieved, and it's suitable to the subject of geography noted for its synthetic, regional and large-time-span characteristics. To carry out teaching environmentalresearch in geography teaching, traditional teaching views should be first abandoned.At the same time, new types of constructive teaching views should be set up and its principles for teaching design should be followed to create teaching conditions beneficial for the overall development of the students. To achieve it, the following should be included:l.Take advantage of the subject fully. Different means can be adopted, such as the display of maps, pictures, models and so on. With the development of information technology, multi-media and network are now used in classrooms and this meets the technological need to achieve it.2.Environmental teaching emphasizes questions as the key in study. Case-teaching can be adopted to create all types of environments of questions in class. The environmental creation of questions increasing by degree is helpful for logic thinking; radiating questions for diverging thought; changeable questions for agile thought; doubt-raised questions for the ability to find questions; questions to do with practice for the ability to use what's learned practically etc.3.Study for the sake of application. To train the students to gain practical ability, it's a must to enter social environment. Besides, the students should be encouraged to learn while doing and form the structure of true and useful geography knowledge via their own comprehension in practice so as to solve problems under new conditions by what has been learned.4.Either in class or in practice, harmonious relationship between teachers and students is premised. Teachers should respect the decision-making role, dynamic role and creative role so that the students may realize they are the masters in study and develop the ability of studying, training and self-development on their own.Environmental teaching does not need tests separated from it but it's assessed in it. It can be assessed by the means of question-answer drills in class, practical analysis and operation, writing of findings reports or theses etc.In environmental teaching, the effective method of quick knowledge accumulationvia indirect experience should not be denied.
