On The Discipline Construction Of The Combining Higher Education Institutions

Some particular problems of different nature are inevitably encountered, and must be solved as well after some higher education institutions have been combined since 1990's.The discipline construction is always fundamental in the development and reform of any universities. To promote the quality of students, to lift the research to a new high level, to improve the speed and the depth of integration and to stride further by means of discipline construction currently become the pressing strategic tasks for the combining higher education institutions in China.The focus of this thesis is how to construct the disciplines in the combining higher education institutions.Based on the data collected by retrieving a lot of documents and by investigating several representative universities in China on the spot,the author pointed out the theoretical and practical problems in the discipline construction,proposed some rational ideas for it,and finally ,the author put forward some recommendations and measures.The present thesis is composed of the following four parts: Part 1 depicts the misunderstanding and practical problems and indentifies the opportunnities for the discipline development in the combining higher education institutions on the threshold of its development.Part 2 defines some related concepts such as the discipline, the discipline construction, the discipline construction of university and the combining higher education institutions respectively.Part 3 discusses the regularities for the discipline construction in general to provide theoretical guidance for the practice in the combining higher education institutions. According to the laws of human development, the characteristics of research and the needs of social advancement, it should be comfirmed to promote the all-around development of a human being, to abide by the rules of science progress ,and to satisfy changing demands of the changing society for the discipline construction of the combining higher education institutions.Part 4 proposes some recommendations to enhance the discipline construction in the combining higher education institutions after probing into current status,which are setting the rational and operational target of making itself improved,accumulating a good faculty and lifting good foundation for teaching and researching,adjusting the reasonable layout of disciplines and integrating the discipline culture.
