Chinese Social University, the first non-state university, was established in Beijing in 1982, and there were 1202 private higher education institutes all over the country in 2002. To survive and develop the institutes must have their own characteristics, especially the characteristics of curriculum.Firstly the author analyzed the meaning of the characteristics of curriculum of private higher education institutes and its function.In the second part of the essay, the status quo and problems of the curriculum in the private higher institutes was discussed.In the last part some tactics are suggested to form the characteristics of curriculum in private higher education institutes in China.
