A Probe The Local-Geography Education

Local Geography is an important branch of geography and a basis on which students learn geography. The education of local geography must be enhanced because, for one thing, the students have much chance to get in touch with the local geographical phenomena and events and are eager to know how they happen, develop and disperse to as to get a complete picture of them, for another, we should enhance the students' motivation for geography learning, helping them combine theory with practice in various kinds of surveys relevant of the economic construction, the utilization and transform of resources and environment in their local regions. Therefore it's very necessary and well worth probing and studying how to carry out local geography education. This article aims to study the law of local geography education and the practical approaches to it. The paper consists of 4parts:general survey of local geography education; its development; its compilation of teaching materials; and its teaching practice.The first 2parts deal with its origin, necessity and importance.The third part is about the building of the teaching material, including its importance, basic principles, chief contents, and the main patterns.The last discusses the teaching approaches, principles, and features.The building of the teaching material and its teaching practice are the essential parts of local geography education, therefore naturally are the focus of this paper.
